Started my marine 2ft Cube tank about 2 months ago.

Initially had problems with the sump but now everything is

Wow, wouldn't having a return pipe so deep down into your tank create a massive reverse siphon when your return pump fails?

I think the pipe is quite long to the surface.

SO even if pump fails, it will not fill up the sump.

I got a problem here with my tank.

I measured the nitrate level in my tank using Selifert test kit.

The readings in my opinion after comparing with the chart shows

that my nitrate is 100ppm (looks quite pink).

My corals include Seafan, Flowerpot, Orange Spotted Polyps, Mushroom

are all still looking very healthy(Colors are bright and vibrant) and opening up.

My Bubble tip anemone is still doing fine and the tips all look exceptionally good

My boxer shrimp, supposedly have issues with high nitrate is still alive.

Of course, i have lost fishes but mainly due to ich problem.

Anyone can tell me is this just temporary or will something bad going to happen if

my nitrate remain this high.

FYI, i will be putting in the seachem nitrate remover tonight to reduce and hopefully

remove all nitrate.

you can observe yr tank for algae...if there r no sign of algae growth...means yr nutrients is ok.

corals will open up because nutrients are food source for them...

if yr shrimps kaput..its a good sign yr nutrients too high...sometimes test kit are not accurate.

actually i kind of agree with both of you... even my wife says so... This scape is more of a rock pile, my previous one has a cave on the front. Anyway, i will schedule for another rescape after chinese new year. But i will need to buy 1 more live rock (Big one) to complete it. Thanks for all your comments though.
