Initially had problems with the sump but now everything is solved with the help of some friends and some very helpful forummers here. Thanks for the advice. Please see attached pics. bulldog
Thanks for the comments. The 2 tube at the back is actually the pipes from my sump, 1 in and 1 out.
Sea_Urchin
Wow, wouldn't having a return pipe so deep down into your tank create a massive reverse siphon when your return pump fails?
jackywongto
Wow, wouldn't having a return pipe so deep down into your tank create a massive reverse siphon when your return pump fails? I think the pipe is quite long to the surface. SO even if pump fails, it will not fill up the sump. bulldog
The return is actually at the top where there is a durso pipe attached to it. It reduced the sound and so far doing a good job. Tested by offing the pump and my sump did not flood... so i guess it should be safe.
bulldog
I got a problem here with my tank. I measured the nitrate level in my tank using Selifert test kit. The readings in my opinion after comparing with the chart shows that my nitrate is 100ppm (looks quite pink). My corals include Seafan, Flowerpot, Orange Spotted Polyps, Mushroom are all still looking very healthy(Colors are bright and vibrant) and opening up. My Bubble tip anemone is still doing fine and the tips all look exceptionally good My boxer shrimp, supposedly have issues with high nitrate is still alive. Of course, i have lost fishes but mainly due to ich problem. Anyone can tell me is this just temporary or will something bad going to happen if my nitrate remain this high. FYI, i will be putting in the seachem nitrate remover tonight to reduce and hopefully remove all nitrate.

There is also no algae on the walls of my tank as well as on my live rocks. I do hope so the test kits are not accurate anyway will still monitor. bulldog
Nice scape. Still having issues with your nitrates? Hi Peter, It is better now after putting in the de-nitrate. I have also put in 4 stalks of Mangrove roots inside to help in controlling nitrate.

bulldog
actually i kind of agree with both of you... even my wife says so... This scape is more of a rock pile, my previous one has a cave on the front. Anyway, i will schedule for another rescape after chinese new year. But i will need to buy 1 more live rock (Big one) to complete it. Thanks for all your comments though.
