What I do is use a siphon to suck the sand and debris. At the output side, I cover with mesh filter bag. The bag I buy from C328. It has quite large mesh size, so the smaller debris can pass through but sand cannot. But of cos if your sand is Grade 0, then you may not be able to use this method.

Hi, i am thinking of vacuming my sand bed to take away excess debris. Is it possible? If it is, how can I do it without sucking away the sand?

Please advice. Thanks.

get a siphon tube.

set to very low flow and the detritus will be sucked out.

When u see the sand is about to be sucked too high into the tube, lift the tube up away from the sand.

Use one hand to hold the plastic tube in the tank and the other hand hold the rubber tube which the water is flowing out near the pail.

You can also easily control the flow by pressing the rubber tube to limit the suction power.

Sorry if it is kinda fuzzy, try my best to explain already.
