Oh my goodness.... I am this close from spouting expletives!

Liverpool is such a mediocre team these days.

The club has taken a huge tumbling down the stairs.

I cannot see how they will improve next year given Benitez record in transfer targets.

I mean ... Babel and Ngog.... they cannot even get into the first team for Sunderland if they are there......

Goodbye to top4 and even the 6th place might be beyond them.... this is the saddest season in recent yrs.

And no, they will not even be able to overturn the 2-1 deficit in the return leg of the Euro cup.

Honestly, Jacky, i don't think the team is a problem.. Rafa is.. Babel and Ngog is pretty good just inconsistent. I think to be fair to them, it's Rafa's fault to buy them for 3 years and play them so little until now. They just lack exposure and experience.

Tactically, Rafa is more positive in this match, but i still think he should have played Mash instead of Lucas, as it will free up Gerrard to go forward.

As for the substitute, i bet with you all liverpool fans must have sweared at the same time.

Most of the players are mediocre players apart from Gerrard, Torres, Reina, Benayoun.

There is a lack of leadership on the field. when Gerrard don't play well, the whole team collasps.

Babel and Ngog are just average players. Lucas L => I dunno why he is even playing.

Insua is average too... runs a lot, very hardworking, very obedient => much like Dirk Kuyt but ........

if you notice the 1st half, there was hardly a single shot on target.

No sense of urgencies from the players.

No passion for the game.

lost most of the 50 - 50 challenges.

Balls are passed left to right and right to left and then back.

I agree that Torres was totally below his best that night but with players like Ngog, I would go for a 30% Torres anytime.

This is vindicated by the number of misses he had..... well they had, including Babel. He missed a glorious chance too.

Plus when the opponents are tired, that is when Torres can capitalise on their errors.

You do not sell Alonso till you have a replacement.

Alex Ferguson did not sell C Ronaldo till a year later after penning Valencia as a replacement.

There is no one to drive those long passes & through balls now.

Hence they are forced to knock balls sideways instead of forward.

and they take like 10- 15 passes before they can shift the ball to the opponents penalty box and that is like once in a blue moon.

The bench.... who are the substitutes that can make an impact..... ZERO.

Bayern Munchen goes to the semis thru away goals

United were the better team in the first half, totally outplayed Bayern's horrible defence.

Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have confirmed that they are looking to sell the club after appointing British Airways chief Martin Broughton as chairman on Friday.

The American duo have been at the club since their 2007 takeover but have come under plenty of scrutiny throughout that time, notably from fans disappointed by their apparent reluctance to invest heavily in the squad.

And with Rafael Benitez's side unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season, Hicks and Gillett have decided to officially put the club up for sale, though the loss of potential revenue from not participating in Europe's premier club competition could make the club a less attractive proposition to potential buyers.

A statement on Liverpool's official website from Gillett and Hicks said: "Owning Liverpool Football Club over these past three years has been a rewarding and exciting experience for us and our families.

"Having grown the Club this far we have now decided together to look to sell the Club to owners committed to take the Club through its next level of growth and development.

"We are delighted that Martin Broughton has agreed to take the position of Chairman, working alongside the club's excellent senior management team.

"Martin is a distinguished business leader of excellent judgment and with a great reputation. He is a genuine football supporter and will seek to oversee the sales process in the best interests of the Club and its supporters."

Barclays Capital have been engaged by Liverpool to advise on the sale process and Broughton, who is currently chairman of British Airways PLC, will oversee the club's operation as the new chairman, alongside existing managing director Christian Purslow.

"I am excited and honoured to be taking up this position. Liverpool is a great club with a fantastic history," Broughton said. "I will run this sale process in the right way, for the benefit of the Club and its fans.

"Liverpool is one of the world's greatest clubs and my aim is to try and ensure that we find new owners who are able to build on the Club's recent improved financial performance in order to help deliver sporting success."

Prospective buyers of the club - reported to be valued at around £500 million by Hicks and Gillett - are expected to wait until the end of the season to begin negotiations and it is thought that any new owners will continue with plans to move to a new stadium.
