Bro, for JBJ website, you may wish to assess the volume of water and heat load stated and compare to yours. In general, a chiller seems to overwork by kicking in frequently(like every hour) and take hours to cool your tank. The kick in frequency can attribute from heat load in your tank and sump and the hours to cool your tank is likely to tell you whether the chiller is being stretched.

I used to run my artica 1/5 for 2 ft cube with sump, it take around 30 mins to cool down the water and take easily 2 hours to kick in again. Of course, other factors do come into picture, such as weather, direct sunlight, poor ventilation, etc.

I think bro terry won't mind as he is being helpful. Getting to meet up with senior reefers, many will advice 1/4 for a 4 ft tank. and if possible, 1/3. If possible, some reefers like to go one level 1 up for chiller and skimmer. Hence, to answer your question , is not a must.

In this hobby, IMO, no definitely right or wrong(for certain case) but you face the music if you dont follow the follow....like skimmer, some reefers dont use them and their tanks are in good state.

We are here to share and not giving order....lol. The ultimate choice is yours. Happy reefing and enjoy the exciting in setting up...it is just the beginning....the never ending road.....unless....decom....and never look back....

gam sa ham ni da Solo B) and gentlemen for good tips and sharing session. ^_^

Ya, It is not a must to get a higher Hp Chiller...

And like bro Solo, I agree that there is no right or wrong, go the way it best fits you and you are comfortable with...

Bro, like your last sentence.. LOL...

maintained at 27 is good enough unless you intend to go for SPS, then 26 will be perfect.

Is montipora considered a sps? if it is, i will want to keep it :eyebrow: The rest will be lps etc..

no worries. get the nicer coloured ones.

Avoid brown, green.

Get the orange, lime green, purples..... etc.

Will be very nice.

My tank is too small. Else I would have wanted to get those too.

My skimmer produces a lot of microbubbles again in sump and flow to return pump and pump into my main tank which causes snowing again. What causes the skimmer to produces so many microbubbles? :cry2:

Water level is alright, no need to top up by the way. Anyone can help?

i see that you have a small compartment right after the skiimmer. you can place those coarse black sponge sold in lfs. thats what i do for mine tank, reduce the bubbles by quite abit. otherwise you can also put a filter sock at the water. but bare in mind to check it regularly cause the sock might get choke.

haha if you are kiasu like me. use both ! lol...

cheers

Thanks big ben ^_^ I did put a black sponge as well as filter sponge at the small compartment there, but still microbubble pump into main tank. I will try to buy filter sock and put in then see how :D
