Hi reefers,

Using 2 x 250watt MH light and T5 blue tube x 2nos front and back of the the MH light.

Since the T5 tube are used for a year, I am think to change and to buy a blue and actinic or both blue/blue T5?

Tank with SPS and LPS with 4x2x2. Needs some advise from reefer.

Thanks

Blue/blue should be good enough. Reason for getting actinic is to get the luminous effect, but it goes away v. quickly.

Otherwise can consider 2 supplement strips of Royal blue LEDs?

Hi Comycus

To better understand, you mean that the effect goes away very quickly for actinic tube as compare to blue.

Also 2 supplement strips of blue LEDs:- 2 T5 artinic plus blue LEDs

Thanks

If you only want T5 for the blue, then stick to aquablue. Reefers normally use actinic tubes to get luminous colours out from their corals, but the effect lasts for maybe 1-2 months at best? After that, don't really see the fluoresence anymore.

The other option I suggested is to do away with T5 altogether and get 2 royal blue led strips to supplement your MH. Typically gives you a deeper shade of blue, and reefers love the royal blue effect, which is similar to T5 actinic. Just more stunning, and it lasts as long as the LEDs last.

actinics will give you a better effect as compared to blue only.. have a mix of actinic + blue and you will see glow of pink, red, orange, and greens.. having blue only will give you a blue-washed effect that only enhances greens..

btw, blue tubes have a higher PAR than actinics.. actinics is for aestatic purposes mostly.. but its a well trade off for the effect you can get, in my opinion..

I'm currently using 2 strips from our sponsor, Vincent @ Aquarium Artist. V. beautifully done, especially with the custom made acrylic stand.

Thank you very much.

Do you know where can i view the sample and the cost for the royal blue LEDs?

Cheers

Very nice tank. Thanks for valuble advise!

Hope to have a chance to view your tank.

:paiseh: bro don't say tt. Lots of other nicer tanks ard. I just try my best to learn from them also. If you are interested in getting the LED strip from Vincent, remember to tell him you want the 'deep blue' effect to get the fluorecence. Otherwise he might assume you want the 'more blue' one tt has a higher PAR rating.

I sound like I'm talking gibberish, but yeah, tt was how I communicated my requests to him
