Sick Fish

Hi all,

I have a sick clown fish in the tank (with white spots) and I can't catch it out for treatment.

Is there anything I can do about it? How can I get him out from the tank?

He is sharing home (anemone) with another clown fish. Will he infect the other clown fish and the anemone?

Please help!! I don't want him to die!

Yes white spot is very infectious and most probably your other clown might get it. Since you say you can't catch out the fish, IMO its ok just maintain excellent water quality and regulary feed your clown with garlic solution soak food to boost up its immune system and also cut down any stress factor with might affect him. And then....... pray hard hope your clown fish immune system might defea the ich. :D:D:D

I agree with DA to just let it be in the main tank...

Try to improve ur water quality with water change but do not change too much @ any one time.

If u catch the clownfish into another tank, u must definitely make sure the qurantine tank is matured. If not, the clownfish will be even more stress than in ur original tank becos of the ammonia and nitrite level. Oso try to feed garlic soaked food to the fish...will help build up their immune system and hopefully, ur clown fish will recover...

Hi all!

Really appreciate all the advice! I've started feeding them with food soaked in garlic. Right now, can only keep my fingers crossed!

Anyone has any idea what the reasons are for the appearance of white spots? Will it infect the anemone too?

The sick clown fish has 'chased' the other clown out of the anemone and we have bought the other clown a new anemone (so that they don't have to 'share' home anymore)

White spots are parasites that are basically always present in the tank water (their eggs, at least) unless it contains copper. (They can be introduced via seawater or some LS or whateva).. They tend to come and go whenever your fishes are atressed and no it cannot affect invertibrates such as an anemone.... (I doubt so)

I'm sure your fish can beat this white spot if you give it goos water conditions... Good luck!!

dunno if its reef safe or not. couldnt find anything on it on the web. but it is stated on the bottle that it does not contains copper. cost about 30 bucks a bottle. so far, i hv tried dosing a bit into my aquarium. no ill effects so far from fish, inverts or corals. hope it works... :)

i think fishes from the start once they reach into our tank

tehy are short of vitamins and so on that no matter how good

our system are ...we always cant duplicate what nature supply for them....

therefore they are open to disease...\

so i guess the best is to when they are new into the tank

should provide them wiht all those vitamins

that needed to fight off virus or so ever

it will be a bit too late when they have infected

then finding a solution for it

Prevention is always better then cure

just my point of view
