Hi, do you guys switch off the return pump while feeding?

If I do not switch off, some of my cyclopeze flow to the sump.

I bought the frozen cyclopeze from AM.

Most of my small fish feed on this cyclopeze, including clown goby and dragonet.

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

Hi, any advise on controlling or getting rid of aiptapsia?

Currently already saw 4 to 5 aiptapsia growing on my liverocks.

I was thinking of getting a couple of peppermint shrimp.

Thanks!

I heard its hit or miss with peppermint shrimps.

some eat but some don't. same as with copperband butterfly.

Then there is some aiptasia killing liquids which can be bought off the shelf.

I have nvr tackle them before so I cannot really comment on anything.

Just a thought: What if you just take some epoxy and stick over them.

That will might kill them right

There will be some ugly looking epoxy but I am sure you can use some corals/ frags to cover it up.

Not sure using epoxy will totally kill them;

seemed like they can retract into the rocks.

Guessed will try the aiptasia killing liquids.

I killed mojano pest that way.

just epoxy them (stuff the hole) and make sure they are all sealed in the epoxy.

When the epoxy harden, the pest will die.

But yeah, maybe the liquid way is much better.

good luck & keep us posted.

Managed to change partial water tonight.

While doing so; saw a small hairy crab and a worm in two different live rocks;

Felt uneasy ..... so at last made the decision to take out those rocks and dip into tap water ....

Within minutes; out came the crab and the worm.

But only managed to pull out half of the worm ... wonder the other half still alive and will grow back?!?

Did not manage to take pics of them though ... flushed them straight into the toilet bowl ...!!

Hence did some re-scaping ... but actually not much as did not manage to find nice live rocks last weekend.

Here are the pics ...:

Trying to feed the plate coral and sun coral .... but these 2 n.snails rushed in and snatch away a big chunk of prawn!!

Suncoral not that healthy ... due to leaving in the ikea tub for a few weeks!

Plate coral to my surprise is very hardy!!

Yeah, have to manually scrap them off; it is quite easy to clean them.

At first I thought they are eggs; but then again may be not.

Hi Luke.

Nvr seen those marks before in my tank.

Maybe take that snail out or swop it out.

Feeding the suns - I fed my suns too huge a chunck of prawn the last time.

Their well being deterioriated after that.

Have since feed them 1 -2 mysis shrimp per head every week. (you can do twice a week too.)

They are doing ok now.

Would suggest you feed mysis too and pass the prawn. Less harmful I think especially if the prawn is not finely chopped and is too huge a chunk.

Also do a check if they spit out the prawn the next day.

Yeah, a few pieces which are too big did not consume by the sun.

Found them on the sand this morning.

Should have chopped smaller pieces.

But my prata swallowed 1 big chunk yesterday; hope it is ok.

By the way, thinking of changing my light stand; currently in aluminium; to wood.

Not sure it is viable. Will check and update.

Any suggestion also welcome.

Ever thought of using acrylic?

you can opt for either black acrylic or clear ones.

Prata can eat big chunks of fish/prawn/clam etc, no problem. My prata previously ate one of my clown fishes that died... :eyebrow:
