The chiller saga is still going on. Present chiller comes on once the MH starts and will run non-stop till the MH goes off. damn the weather..

Working with Dr Chill on relocating the chiller to a more ventilated area to see if that helps. If it does, great. if it doesnt improve the situation, then will be changing chillers to better accomodate my tank water capacity.

His explanation is that firstly , the location of my chiller is not ideal as AT's chiller is right next to a window. hmmm, thats about it.

Also , he mentioned that i might have a misbehaving chiller and has offered to replace it but I have decided to go for the Arctica instead. My plan is to mount the chiller next to my balcony above the tank and thus more ventilation instead of putting it in the living room. This will also prevent hot air from circulation in my living room which gets hot after some time.

Distance from my tank to the proposed location for the compressor is very close. about 1 meter horizontally and 1 meter higher than the tank.. will attached some pictures after the bracket and chiller has been installed to give you a clearer picture.

Tonite, I will be placing the new chiller in the same cupboard to see if can higher more efficiently than the older chiller keeping the rest of the variables consistent.

I guess that will be a good experiment in terms of comparing the 2 chillers in terms of efficiency.

Actually sitting the chiller on a bracket will be louder as compared to hard flooring hor ... as bracket tend to vibrate and sending more humming sound into the air.

Hi,

How much is the price different for Arctica 1/2hp and 1.25HP Titanium?

Still cannot understand how the 1/2hp can perform better than the 1.25hp?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the TR 1.25HP is not true 1.25HP. At around 800 watts for a 1.25HP TR(if I recall correctly), perhaps its only running a 0.5HP compressor? ;)

Comments are welcome!

Hi Guys, finished installing the chiller in the same cupboard that housed the older 1.25hp. Started off with water temp of about 28.5 and now the temp is about 26.8. ( both measured by IKS temp probe). Drop of 1.3 degree in 2 hours which is very respectable in light of the heat load from 750W of MH 6 inches from the water level and also about 100W of Fl light at the same ht.

The noise level is higher than the TR 1.25Hp chiller but must bear in mind that this is a commercial chiller. Should try your best to mount the chiller remotely and not under the tank or in the living room.

Im very happy with the chiller and its performance so far. no prob pulling down the temp quick.

Wow, must really give this chiller a thumbs-up. at last my chiller is running only 1/2 of the time and at a lower wattage compared to the older chiller too! In fact, 2 thumbs up!!

Only downside i notice is the comparatively louder noise compared to the older chiller... but this is the commercila version after-all..

got my electrical bill.... $220, up again from $180. Wife is screaming again.

Glad to know this chiller runs only 1/2 the time compared to your new chiller.

I will up my tank temp to 26.5degs from 25.0 degs + the new chiller shorter running time should be able to cut the electrical bills by a bit. Let's see how it goes.
