How to increase PH level?

Hi guys,

can't seems to find any topics regarding PH level under search.

My tank PH level is currently reading around 8.0, hardness is around 12 dKH, temp ard 226 to 27 deg.

Other readings all good and using algae scrubber only.

According to the LFS that I frequent, they said that it could be due to low oxygen level in tank.

Will the introduction of O3 be any good or are there any better methods?

Thanks!

Happy Holidays!

pH 8.0 is quite alright...so long yr pH dun fluctuates too often and too much.

more impt yr pH is stable.

If you planning to increase your PH level, there are a few way to do it. Such as PH buffer or kalwasser(not recommended for beginner because you need to know the usage and how to prepare it) which you can get from most LFS or aquarium, cheaper way is using baking soda which you can get from supermarket.

Low oxygen level has an impact on the PH. If all your equipments is in full operation, that should be your highest PH level for your tank. You might want to consider to increase to 8.2 although 8 is the required range for marine tank.

thanks for the fast reply, guys.

i was thinking of increasing the PH(if due to lack of O2) as there has been 4 cases of dead fishes in 1 week 2 weeks ago.

Anyone uses a Ozone generator?

Thanks again.

CHeers!

i have used ozone b4...if you plug that into yr skimmer, it will help to boost yr skimmer performance and u will see more waste being collected.

But if overdose, it will have the danger of wiping out yr fishes and corals. Ozoniser is used for commerical agriculture of aquatic fishes, coz its cheaper to run that than UV steriliser.

If any of yr fishes kaput...yr nitrate / ammonia levels will indicate.

Ya, PH = 8 will not kill the fishes. How long you been keeping the fishes? What is the symptom you found with the fishes?

thanks for all the replies.

actually 2 of my Singapore Angel(almost 1 year with me liao) just became not so active and the next few days, they just started to flip and kaput :(.

The rest just disappeared but ammonia level was 0, PO4 = 0, only thing is Nitrite was up to max 0.1.

That is why I find it a bit strange as all my readings looks ok.

Anyway, thanks again, folks and wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...!

CHeers!
