Finally done with the DIY attachment for the RB LEDs I collected from Sherman just b4 CNY. here are the pics. Basically, I simply fabricated a wooden frame to mount the LEDs tog wif heatsinks on, sprayed it silver then using a simple 90 deg kitchen hook to attach the fixture onto the nova pendant. Din come out too shabby i think

Very satisfied with the colour of the RB leds. really brings out the floresence of the corals. I have since changed my lighting timings to 9 hrs of RB led lighting overlapped with just 3 1/2hrs of MH supplementation. Forgive the messy wirings. will do a final round of cable management when I add in the nano wavebox and when my skimmer hopefully arriving by next week.

Pair of black clowns from Irwana. 1 of them have middle bars that dont meet on both sides. The other one has only middle bars that dont meet on one side. blank on the other side.

So far, have been behaving. Irregular markings made me chose this piece.

The biggest bully around. he's ok with the clowns but seems to pick on the flame. Hmmm

That's it. will update again when the final pieces of equipment go in.

very nice DIY work bro. and the SSC LEDs from Sherman are awesome.

The colour tone looks so much better.

btw, I think you still have a lot of space for more corals :)

nice fishes.

your reefpack still not here?

Yup, 2 of my fav marine fishes. Got the smallest specimens I could find. Both are barely 2 inches, though they appear v large in the photos.

Sadly, yes, my reefpack still not here yet. Very disappointed with the whole issue. Well. I gave up chasing already. Last I heard was the item already sent out, just waiting for them to call me. But then again, I heard this at least twice already. Next time, thnk will try RD to get stuff in instead though its furthur away for me.

BTW Jacky, can I check with you. You are using the Vortech MP20 right? Does the wave interfere with the 9002 skimming? I'll be getting the nano wavebox from a bro here so want to know if they can b used in conjuction with each other.

yup, theres actually alot of real estate on the top of the plateau but seems that only clams and SPS like it up there. I tried putting zoos up there with not so good results. Think may shift my lights furthur up.

Yes, the FA is barely 2 inches, maybe that's y the colour is more intense. Got it from Irwana's last hawaii shipment.

In case if you are keen, I am offloading my reefpack. Pm me if you are.

I am currently using MP10. MP20 will be way overkill in a 1.5 ft nano cube. No the MP10 does not interfere with the nano skimming. I set it to lagoon mode.

Have you checked the Tunze nano wavebox spec? I recall that our nano cube is way too small for this wavebox. You might want to double check.

Just note that the corals takes about 3 - 4 weeks to get use to your new lighting.

Your new scape looks awesome, and the colour has improved so much. Very nice!

I think I need some rock scaping art classes...

Thanks bro but my scaping has never changed since day one. Just that there's a coralline boom which makes for a pleasant purplish read appearance. Rock scaping is a very funny thing. I noticed that the more you try to have a picture in your head, the worse it becomes. For me, I actually arranged the rocks out of the tank. This gives me the ease of screwing together rocks to create overhangs. dry scaping makes you more willing to try different arrangements as it takes away the hassle and mess of scaping in the tank itself. Imagine getting your hands wet doing some arrangements in the water, then standing back to take a look. sometimes this process is repeated tens of times and you may eventually settle for something not to your expectations just becos you are sick of repeting the process again. It also strengthens the overall structure.Rem to use stainless steel screws though. you can finish off the exposed screwheads with a little scaping putty. Just rem to take measurements before you transfer the scape into your tank to ensure it fits. Ideally the entire scape should be screwed together into several large pieces what easily sit together. For my case, the entire scape is detachable into 3 large pieces.

I stinged on my last water change by using tapwater instead of distilled and within 2 days, you see the brown algae appearing. This is despite me using rowa. THink I have up the dose of rowa in future if I use tapwater again.

I checked that the nano wavebox is for aquariums 150 to 600L. ours is 100L so I thought should be ok. Maybe will set to the lowest possible setting. Else will sell it off an get the MP10.

BTW what plans do you have after offloading your reefpack? External hang on skimmer? I thought of the Deltec MCE300/500 too actually. If my reefpack still does not come in by latest next week. THink I will cancel the order altogether. Cant go on waiting indefinately. May then get your reefpack. Will let you know.

it is meant for elongated tank.

For squarish nano, I think your chances of it fitting is quite slim. just be prepared.

The water need some margin from the top to simulate the wave.

so you will even have lesser water in your tank to cater for this back and fro movement.

going for MCE 600 most likely. No concrete plans yet. I have a bare tank now so might as well take the chance and do the change now.

Rather than scape it up and have to tear it down again.

wah, mce600 for your 1.5 ft cube, isnt it overkill? agreed, its always better to do these changes with a bare tank. Maybe you could also consider incorporating a sump. Then all you macro algae/mangrove can stay out of sight. Water volume will also increase substantially which contributes to stability. Nano really q hard to maintain in terms of water quality.

I dunno how what is the size of my next tank yet.

if I can i will get the mce 600.

a few things happening simultaneously so gotta play by ear.

Yes, the small volume of water makes it hard to keep.

The worst is that I am greedy and my tank is usually heavily stocked.

My dream is a super long and shallow tank that can be viewed both from above and the side. I'm always envious when I see Irwana's shallow SPS and clam display. THe colours are brilliant viewed from above.

Luckily I'm poor so my tank always got space :cry2: when i go to GO, it's like how much is this? ok next, how much is this? ok next, how much is this? ok next, how much is this? $30? ok i'll take it

That is also in consideration :P

Thinking of doing a L shape shallow tank.

Need to talk to my wife 1st. If kena shot down, then just do a normal 2 footer. :(

The longer side is about 6 feet. The shorter side is 3 feet.

height and width = 1 ft. This is the 2 walls at my dinning area.

But the chances of getting it approved is as good as your nano wavebox being able to fit in your nano cube.
