SRC Member Richie13 Posted March 15, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted March 15, 2010 to increase your chances with success in the two powder tangs, introduce them simultaneously. the PBT is in for now, and introducing the PBrT later will be next to impossible. so i suggest before introducing the PBrT, catch and hold the PBT first. then rearrange some rocks to break the terriroty, and release both together. otherwise its goign to be very very tough to get the two powders getting along, much less the other resident YT and BT. even then, it might not guarantee that both powders won;t fight. but its possibl to keep many powder's together. just difficult. tang master has done so with PBT and PBrT. i have also seen PBT, PBrT, and PBlkT all kept together. even 3 PBT in 1 tank! so jiayou. it's possible I agreed with what LemomLemon suggested... releasing PBrt later will definitely create problem... I release both at the same time after keeping them in the beta box with 2 compartment(1 in each compartment) for a week... imagine the 2 facing each other for 1 week... The day I released them, I also flooded my tank with flakes and Henry's Gourmet... my YT, PT, BT and AT were all too busy with the food to bother them ... The PBrT was later transfer to my office tank but did not survive... SRC Member desideria Posted March 15, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 15, 2010 DOes it help that the powder brown is about 1.5 times biger than the POwder blue? and slighty bigger than the YT but smaller than the BT.. so in terms of size from smallest to biggest it's like this.. PBT, YT, PBRT , BT.... I bought a 1 feet x 5 inches beta box to put the PbrT in IF it survives the QT and starts eating... when I put it in the display tank for the first few days... so that the other fish will get used to him cause I think trying to catch the powder blue will be a challenge..... Thanks for the tips, Desi Quote Cheers, Desi Sheldon (TBBT): A little misunderstanding? Galileo and the Pope had a little misunderstanding... Senior Reefer yikai Posted March 15, 2010 Senior Reefer Share Posted March 15, 2010 it's not much use. powder tangs will attack each other regardless of size. maybe the PBrT will attack the PBT in return. tangs have a little blade at the caudal penducle (tail base), which are extremely sharp, and can cause serious injuries to humans. so handle them with care. that being said, when they fight, they use this "scapel" on their tail, to swipe against each other. it is not uncommon to see cut wounds on other tangs caused by this. the "scapel" on the end of the tail give them their common family name, the surgeonfishes. SRC Member desideria Posted March 15, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 15, 2010 Yeah I noticed yesterday some cuts on the PBT inflicted by the YT already....ARUGH. I will try to catch the PBT before releasing the PBRT in the tank (if I even get to that stage.. now i'm just getting by a day at a time when it comes to powders!)... and probably have to get some small rocks to throw around because there is NO WAY I can rescape anything as my entire tank rockscape leans on each other so if I move one, EVERYTHING will fall... lol strange but true.. I almost caused a collapse of my "roof" when I was pushing around one rock below... luckily I saw the other supporting structure moving and I immediately stopped pushing it. anyway.. still early on.... SRC Member desideria Posted March 15, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 15, 2010 thanks ah siang.. I have been monitoring... the cuts ain't deep but I can still see some shear like injury on the body... last 2 mornings, wake up go straight to tank and check on the fish, come home from going out, go and check... the YT like very temperamental... happy happy go and kachiow the PBT... sometimes both fish can be swimming side by side and no issue... then sometimes kena whack. my BT doesn't give 2 hoots who is in the tank with him as long as he eats.. LOL.. even though the BT so much bigger than the YT.. the YT sometimes also kachiow the BT. lol I have seen the BT even eat the poop of the fish which poops in front of it's face....... dunno whether to vomit or laugh sometimes.. lol Desi Quote Cheers, Desi Sheldon (TBBT): A little misunderstanding? SRC Member desideria Posted March 16, 2010 Author SRC Member Share Posted March 16, 2010 OK here's pics of what I got lately from Irwarna.. a blue seafan and an elegance! And here's a pic of the 2 seehums from bro J'field after cheonging to his house last night at about 10pm and then cheonging to AM to collect the bulk order of rotifeast! And here's a pic of the YT and PBT being buddy sometimes and then there is an invisible line which the PBT cannot cross... everytime cross.. the YT will cheong at him.. haiz.. hopefully the line will one day slowly disappear... And here's a top down view of the tank.. turned off the wavemaker's to get the shot. Purple and blue atinics on.. MH not on yet.. Cheers, Desi.
