Hi after asking about removing the sand from my existing tank, it is going to be quite a heavy and tiring task and i will need to have a few super big box to hold my tank sea water. So can i just buy a few more pack of grade 2, bigger grain and puka shell to place on top of my existing sand bed? I will remove all my rock, catch all the fishes out then put the extra sand in. I will be buy those dead sand, then added bacteria powder. Having bigger grade sand will reduce the sand storm right? Cause with my existing sand grade 0 and 1, always have hole on my sand bed, and the wavemaker will blow the sand on to my rock, so most of my rocks r filled with sand. I have 2 tunze 6060 and my return is rio 32hf, i tired to change the position my wavemarker a lot of time le, but always will have hole on the sandbed.

Any advice? Thanks. =)

Why from removing sand you want to add sand now? What's the rationale? How much sand do you currently have? Do you want to create DSB? DSB advisable to do at least 6". especially since you're using coarser sand. If you do lesser, DSB is not achieved, it will just be a nitrate factory. Just for aesthetic looks, just need 1-2" max.

you can adjust your shift your tunze and return higher or angle higher so tt no sandstorm created. I wouldn't recommend puka shells as they just collect algae.

But my wavemaker is tunze 6060, like cannot adjust the angle only can left and right, so sandstorm is always created no matter where i pointing. Just when to see the the grade of sand available, should be using grade 5, as it is bigger and will not be blown up. Hmm my sand depth is around 2" so if i added grade 5 sand in, will there be any problem later? And I need to filled up till 6"?
