hi all, just to journal my new tank, finally arrived.

my cube is almost a copy of bro jacky's

at first considered crystal glass, then again was quite concerned about breaking and stuff, and quite heavy.

i attached an initial pic (sorry not to clear, rushing, and not FTS hehe, suspense).

actually wondering if i will post this already since all other stuffs (like reefpack) have yet to arrive :paiseh:

have to consider a lot of stuff since it will be in my room.

anyway, gives me time to think of rockscape concept, and also do some cycling before i go on

vacation. by the time i'm back, everything should be in :whistle

btw, to go with the pink room, anyone knows where i can get nature ocean's pink sand ?

so things should start to get rolling after about 3 weeks or so <_<

I think this is going to be a v. interesting tank... heh can try calling AM to see if they can bring in the product for you since they carry Nature's Ocean. I believe you are looking for Samoa Pink Live Sand.

wow reefpack summore! Sounds great! I'm sure Jacky shared many of his learning points with you :)

hi, for now just going for Tunze Reefpack 200 ...

My twin :) Grats sister.

Now I have an acrylic & reefpack buddy. Welcome to the club kekekeke.

Please do not just grab any cloth to clean it.

I am using the NTUC household chores (very thin type) and it is ok.

Can send you a photo of it later.

I also have some melamine sponge that you can use it to clean the algae on the inside of the tank.

Can pass you one to try if you like.

What's the dimension of the tank?

Give us all the details mate :)

Thanks. this is now bro poomoon haha. Yup thanks for the offer. Anyway for now nothing to do yet haha. so you're the first one on my list to call.

As for the dimensions, it is a 'little' smaller than yours bro, due to some space constraints (which actually no longer became a constraint, but too late, tank almost complete). it's 16 in x 14 in x 18 in. And when it arrived, my GF first comment was ' isn't it a little small"

hah... yo Jun.

think you will upgrade pretty soon :P

Keep us posted on your progress.

BTW, the reefpack, I am now more conservative with the medias I placed in the cleaner and the overflow is performing much better now.

So just put a little carbon and phosphate remover and it should do well.

cheers.

Haha, i would want to upgrade to a bigger one (and obviously she does too), that time will come, maybe in a year or so. Sure will do.

Thanks. How's your skimmer doing ? Still got the microbubbles ? How often do you have to attend to the cup ? and also how's the noise, silent ?

Jun, If you do wanna put sand, please just put a very thin layer as in less than 1 inch.

Here's my experience, your algae will grow on the tank wall.

you will have problem trying to clean the algae near the sandbed because you will be worried about sand trapping in your sponge and hence scratching the glass. Go barebottom will be the best and if not, then just a very thin layer which you can easily move them away from the tank wall when you clean the algae. just shift them back after you had finish cleaning.

Hey Jacky, thanks for the inputs. Yeah i've read that in your logs. yeah good input maybe very thin layer would do, anyway i'll see how. Right now while waiting i'm trying to conceptualize how the rockscaping would be. Of course really a lot of space to work on, but just want to try out something different. Now reading on techniques to rockscape and checking out reef pics.

have you though of using artificial rocks?

I saw some at jireh today and they really look nice.

The one I saw really a cave scape with plenty of platform for corals.

if you want real live rocks, then choose those with nice shape and texture.

try not to get flat ones.

what you would like to have is to have "seamless" integration when you place one on top of the other.

So image if you put a flat piece of rock to bridge over 2 porous rock, it would look very artificial.

Your tank is rather narrow, so you might want to consider doing just a simple pyramid scape.

prob something like what Henry has in his ELOS display tank.

Sorry for being long winded. you might have process these thoughts before already :P

I am just throwing thoughts and thinking aloud.
