Ice cap t5 fixtures (10 tubes)

Hi reefers,

Any one got experience with t5 Ice cap ballast. I am flirting with the idea of ditching my 6 tubes ATI PM for a 10 tubes t5 power, using ice cap reflectors and ice cap ballast to fire it up.

Ofcoz i will get my carpenter to customize a light hood. and then get light guru to fix the reflectors and tubes in. Is this a good idea?

Or should i get a 1o tubes aTI pm. But i do worry abt after sale service for lights. my coral cant live without lights for let say 10 days if my ati pm is send overseas. And i do not know if the local retailers will have stock of 10tubes ati pm for their customers in case of such product failure.

Well maybe my worries are unfounded but murphy law do kick in once in a while.

Well keep my lighting options open to LED and T5 only.. no mh.

Well ofcoz those clip type is sooo convenient no need to drill holes @ the ceilling.

change 10 tubes as in the $$ involved.

(of course that could be not an issue for you , but its still quite a lot of $$.)

I have not got any SPS yet. today some monti frags and see when I can get the digita and birdnest frags from Ray.

Since you are already spending so much $, I think just get LEDs la...

Are you in a rush? Tank also not up yet, can wait a few more weeks for stock to come in right?

I don't know. But I will not go for Ice Cap T5. My friend in HongKong feedbacks to me that the reflectors are not as good as those by ATI. And thinking on the number of successful reefers using T5 to keep a full fledged sps or mixed tanks, most of them are running ATI. So if I were you, I will stick with ATI.

If not, go for LEDs but that'll be for me a future upgrade when the market has stabilised in terms of price, quality and variety (:

well.. then i better stick with my ATI then. at least my current 6 tube ati still working. then in future then upgrade.. well hands itchy.. hands itchy...
