I know there are many constraints, like lighting, salt splash, skimmer, filtration etc.

Just day dreaming here... nice concept right? Will toy around with it in my mind to see the feasibility :)

actually its not tough, the idea is a very low cabinet and shallow tank with a glass or acrylic lid, no lightings and the only corals you can keep are sponges and sun corals, the sump will be hidden in the cabinet.

a friend of mine used to have 1 and all he kept inside is a blue ribbon eel that slides all over the place , no big rocks , just a few small pieces here and there to give a beach sandbed look

Mix Reef Tank: 5ft x 2.5ft x 2ft mixed reef

Chiller: daikin 1hp compressor

Return: Red Dragon 6.5m3

Lighting: Aqua Lumen Ocean 4ft

Skimmer: Reef Octopus RO-RPS-5000-EXT w/ Bubble Blaster

CR: RM 824 /milwakee PH controller

Tunze Osmolator

American Pinpoint ORP Monitor with Resun Ozone

RM sulphur denitrator

yeah I was thinking this would be great for keeping a NPS tank like SLCW's.

Cannot build low cabinet la... the idea is the tank is the coffee table itself. Maybe pump out water to a refugium (tt can act as a side table :P) to filtrate, skim and chill. And build some sort of fake floor platform to hide the pipes. wah idea... Gonna try to explore this in future when I get my own house.

but if you believe in fengshui , then its not a very good idea especially if its the main table in the living room , just my 2 cents

If you believe in fengshui, dinning table also cannot.

Dining table symbolizes your career.

Need to get those heavy sturdy wood. Very strong and stable ones.

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

I'm going to setup one similar, but instead of top glass, mine mayb will have side arm surrounding the tank for coffee n tea.

My tank size is 2.5ft x 2.5 x 1.5H, tank already made but no time to continue as my new job is too busy...

v. cool idea bro :) pls update us on your build in future! Just need some precaution maybe to prevent stuff from dropping in? Like if you were snacking there on chips and it drops into the tank... heh
