SRC Member beaver Posted November 12, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 12, 2009 Hi Reefers, As above. I bought a fist sized colony of pink zoas on 25 Oct. Since last week, it started to disappear in an alarming rate. It seems like portion of colony simply disappear, without a even any remnants left. This will occur until the whole colony is totally wiped out to date. Any zoas expert out there who can shed some light. I've kept various zoa specimens b4 without any problem. I suspect something is munching it. But what? .....

SRC Member beaver Posted November 12, 2009 Author SRC Member Share Posted November 12, 2009 What are the current LS in your tank? I only got 1 fish, a larmack angel..but he doesnt nip on corals..some hermit crabs and an assortment of softies and LPS (leather, sunnies, hammer, a huge clam...). My tank is 3 x 2 x 2, so it's very understocked.

From my personal experience, zoas from indo shipment dun really last...it depends on yr luck whether u got yourself healthy ones free from nudis or disease. SRC Member zephyros Posted November 19, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 19, 2009 i found that those big size polyps zoa can last very long. Mine with me for 3-4years and the colony is expanding but for those smaller size polyps zoa (most of the time this zoas have richer color), they just melt away after sometime. sheltiejazz
Mine was grab and dragged into crevices in the live rock by a crab, that came with the live rock! I eventually caught and threw it away. Not sure if you are experiencing the same problem.

SRC Member LaW Posted November 30, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 30, 2009 that is why crab at times is considered a pest in reefing.... not at times. its all the time. Quote If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless. Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. || Tank: 78" x 30" x 30" || Sump: 48" x 22" x 20" || Lights: PowerModule 10 X 80W|| Returns: 2 x HF32 || || Skimmer: BubbleKing Supermarin 300 || Wavemaker: 3 x 6100 & 1 x 6200, 2 x Wavebox 6212, WavySea || || FR: 2 x FR150 || NR: Sulphur Denitrator || CR: RM Custom Made 8" || KR: Deltec KM500 || TopUp: Tunze Osmolator 3155 || || UV: Coralife 12X 36W || Ozonizer: Sanders C200|| Controller: GHL Profilux Plus II Ex ||
