SRC Supporter ReDDeviLs Posted November 12, 2009 SRC Supporter Share Posted November 12, 2009 keep marine is not cheap in the first place. if you are not giving your fishes a suitable environment and not willing to spend $ on basic equipments, i think you should not attempt to keep any. SRC Member nakazoru Posted November 12, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 12, 2009 No need skimmer, since when the anemone dies, your five fish will go with it. You put anemone, better make sure 28deg temp max and Strong lights. Mid range skimmer is the cheapest equip among those setup for anemone... Just do this... A ceramic Cup and 5 clowns... SRC Member cdckjn Posted November 21, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 21, 2009 In my 2-cents worth, even if we are going super low-budget, I still think we will need light (sufficient brightness), a skimmer (Weipro type would be low-cost enough). In your case keeping anemone, you would be best to get a chiller. Unless you have a 4ft or 6ft tank with a sump, and only 1 anemone with 5 small fishes and lots and lots of live rocks, then you may not need any equipment as there is sufficient water to buffer any problems. Remember that inthe ocean, we have lots and lots of volumes of water and "life" to take care of each other but in our small horrible 2ft, 4ft or 6ft tank, we only have so much water and even then this water goes round and round through our filtering system. SRC Member pokmingsheng Posted November 21, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted November 21, 2009 without skimmer ur fishes probably wouldnt survive for long unless u faithfully do water change everyday.. get those cheapo hangon skimmers if you want.. saw aquastar selling quite a few.. as for anemone, i dont think it'll ever survive in that small tank of yours... even with a skimmer, i believe it will still perish because of the temperature and lack of strong lights.. i've got bad experience when i just started out in the past, and i believe without chiller, strong lights and a stable tank, one shouldnt be keeping anemones... just for the sake of hosting clowns... my 2 cents..
