Zorden Shallow tank

Will be doing a 3.5ft x 2.5ft including EOS x 18 inch (or 20 the max)

Well the tank is only 3.5x2x1.5. The eos will take up 5 inch with 2 inch of space for between tank and wall.

Will there be doors panel at the front?

This is not nice. there was a reefer i think his nick is maxima. He decommed years ago but his tank is LOW and infact his sPS viewing on top is damn mice.

Btw why 3.5.. well that the space i got in my room. Well infact i wanted to go 3.5ft x 2.5ft IOS and 1.5ft height.. Well but i guess i dislike the idea of having an overflow box in my tank so going for IOS.

As for lights shld be hanging my Ati from celling if too troublesome, i will get a the light arm. Well i love the idea of LED also.....

i am surprised by the cost altantic quoted me. got one shop quote me 2.4k for cabinet and ultra clear glass tank and piping setup. Well ofcoz altantic just tank alone but cabinet quotation is around 700. so its half of the price.

I can vouch this for Atlantis.

Xiao Mei's quotations are always very reasonable if not, damn competitive! I ever got quoted for a 1.5 ft cube with normal IOS for $120. At Atlantis, it was for $56! However, I have also heard from my friend saying his tank alone is about $9 more from Atlantis than from Ah Beng. So like I said, damn competitive! (:

Nice tank zorden! Keep it up! I love Ed's Reef and minimalist aquascaping. cannot wait to see what you can do with this tank!

Macrovan i want a wider tank but after considering the EOS my tank can only be 2ft wide + 5 inch EOS.. ofcoz this will give a minimalist touch but on a smaller scale. well IOS tend to be not so natural but ofcoz IOS will aloow me to have more space 2.5ft wide tank.

yo bro thanks for your red colour tank pic, i was having issues deciding the colour of my new cabinet due to fengshui issues , was ask to make fire colours for my cabinet and the thought of a red /yellow or orange cabinet was such a turn-off until i saw your pic and also did some photoshop to choose the colours that i supose to use and i think i have decided on the colours. btw when you mentioned 3 sides clear glass , any idea wad kind of glass and how thick? because i haven decide if i gonna make a new tank , thinking of going for a 4x3x2 (like the squarish look ) or just shift my current tank to a new cabinet which is a 5x3.5x2

With the tunze located lower of the bottom of the tank pointing upwards, you won't get water over the edge. A little salt creep is expected for all rimless IMO

Agree on doing a dosing pump for your params as life is so much easier IME. You got a choice of Grotech (which I've used before in the past) or the new stand-alone GHL Profilux. I think ReefDepot carry GHL and Aquamarine carry Grotech so you can compare prices...both works the same

water will definately not come off the edge and it is not suppose to happen that way in any kind of aquarium be it fresh or salt water tanks but what we will not want is for salt creeps which like u say at least abit of creeps is expected.

I have done my "homework" on a fair tank like that years ago and decided to put off the idea due to a visit to a reefers home and his sticky floor really turns me off.

if bro zorden dont mind,than it should be ok.

best is not to have sand on such kind of tank to avoid sandstorm too.

bro zorden,if you intend to keep prata that kind of coral which really need very small and weak current,than you have something real tough to play with.

talking to you afew times and know that you really put in alot of effort to do and research your tank and design.

and perhaps you can consider like Chingchai's tank? do without overflow box; just holes and pipings? (:

lol found any tank maker willing to do the bracing right on top of the tank? Like the ones you posted in your previous thread. Believe they were done by aqua technic or some other LFS.

12mm can le. Its not need or no need, it's to help prevent salt creep. It is not a min amount of effort if you have to mop the floor everyday. lol

As always, when building a tank, there should be a balance between practicality and style. Of course it doesn't hurt to have more $$ to handle more impractical solutions.

got alot of low ballers ard... tsk tsk. if cannot sell, then act as backup skimmer? I like the idea of building a small cabinet for the skimmer though. Can act as future space for possible upgrades like a frag tank.

Sure! I wanna enjoy and learn from your tank too. If possible, in future I would like to keep a 3x3x1.5 or 4x3x1.5 if I have the budget actually.
