Hi All, i plan to reward myself with a shallow tank for this coming xmas.

Here my existing equipment from my previous tank

Light set :Powermodul ATI 6 x 39W ( i do have one aqualight mod with 3 MH for 3 ft but i doubt i will be using it)

return Pump: Ocrean Runner 6500 and ehiem 1264

Chiller Artical 1/4 HP

Skimmer is H&S A200-2x2001 External Protein Skimmer up to 325g

tunze 6045, 6055 & 6100 (2 pcs) and light probe

TLF FR

fancy toy like lunar tracker (moonlight)

aquamedic ozone.

will be getting Grotech dosing pump for bailing method in the near future.

Will be doing a 3.5ft x 2.5ft including EOS x 18 inch (or 20 the max)

My tank design shld be somewhere like the following:

Well pls ignore the IOS. it shld be EOS. and i may replace the lights to these leds

Delightings

I will not be having any refugium just simple sump will do and the HNS skimmer well be place outside the sump.

Will be replacing my Daeil 1/4HP fish cooler with those aircon compressor.

So gurus please advise me..

And Yes, my tank is a copy from Ed Reef of Reefcentral (permission granted ofcoz)

The specs

H&S A200-2x2001 External Protein Skimmer up to 325g

Can be used Internal or External

Footprint: 18.11" x 10.24"

Height: 29.13"

Skimmer Body: 7.9"

Pump:2 x Aquabee 2001

Will may have issue trying to keep it under my tank.

I WANT AMBLE OF SUPPORT SPACE FOR MY MARINE

I have been following ed's tank for sometime now... Great inspiration! My next tank will also be something like that

for starters, how high will your cabinet be? Must be careful if you are gonna do a low cabinet. Ed had some issues with fitting his skimmer into the cabinet.

For the lighting, you might wanna wait for delightings to bring in their longer version. Should arrive next month will be watching your build for my future inspiration!

with the number of tunzes i assume u will be going sps, with such a height u better haf bracing or u will haf sticky floors 4ever due to ur tunzes cant blow downwards and once blow upwards the top is rough and u get salt sprays.

why dont get ghl dosing pump,the 1 like grotec, no need the ghl computer to control it.

u shld be using it to maintain ur sps calcium and mg all tat right? the pump is critical,if down u will ha hell lotsa problem. likewise for the supplements, do keep them in stock to last at least 1mth incase any shortage of stock.

thanks for the reply. actually i worry about the salt spray as my ps3 and xbox is just 1 meter away from the tank. Well i wont mind reducing my tunze and get something less harsh but suffice for SPS and LPS. well no need to use all tunzes. Yes ghl is also in line of my wish list. well maybe will be getting ghl dosing pump instead of grotech.

Nice. I've always preferred shallow tanks. Easy to view from the top. Get to see colours which will not be visible through the glass.

you will not be able to find many carpenters who would be willing to just make 1 cabinet, profit margin too low for them... Even if you find one, he might not be expert in tank cabinets/charge you a premium.

Best is to get a tank maker who can do the cabinet for you too. Most LFS offer this service, or can choose to go with some of the popular ones here in src.

Btw, I did mine with Yonghua.

actually i got a cabinet maker contact from a kind hearted reefer. This carpenter did cabinet for marine hobbyist and take orders from LFS. Well i am thinking of saving the trouble and get yong hua to do it but he havent replied email leh. well i guess have to wait until tomorrow.

Hi Ed, is the 89cm tall cabinet provide sufficient room for me to place my skimmer which Height: 29.13inch and allow me to empty the cup without much difficulty?

btw is EOS very risky? never try EOS b4. i still find rearing fighting fish safe
