Ya, his pump spoiled...and he had to go and get a new pump to pump the salt mix to his tank. Not sure if he actually did the rockscape before pumping the salt mix to his tank...if not he will be having problems arranging the rocks in his 2.5ft high tank...

Was that a new pump or a second hand?

Second hand pump. Actually for his skimmer but when he connected it up, it cannot work at all... :pirate:

Thats the problem with buying second hand stuff.... sometimes I would rather spend a little more and have that peace of mind.

Nice tank man. Looking forward to ur setup pics.

Hope when u do ur rockscaping, they're secured enough.

Once u start adding water, some bouancy issues might make ur rockwork unstable.

actually if you are going to rescape this later, might as well try to stack 1 side high up. Then next time when you get another pile of rocks, just stack another "hill" so that you have an empty valley in between. This way the new rocks scaping will not affect the old rocks scaping. If it is across the tank and you try put some more rocks on top of the old scaping, if there is any shaky foundation, the whole scape might just collaspe. just my thoughts. something like post #322 (middle pic) in this thread. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...9803&st=320

You can have your "hill" away from the side of the tank.

But yeah. 2.5 ft not easy to scape.

I dun think I can do it. My hands are too short.

Great effort Chris!

Actually I would say 2 issues you have to consider:

1) How stable is your rock scape?

2) Can you place all your corals on your rocks and also have hiding spaces for your fishes?

For a 2.5ft high tank, if your rockscape topples with your corals, you are going to have a lot of problems in rescaping it. With your current rock scape, there is still a lot of space at the top, so basically you really need more rocks.

Then the next question I have is how are you going to place your wavemakers? :P

And then are you going to place corals on the sand bed? If you are, then u are going to have to figure out how to target feed them... B)

He's running T5, I dun think he is going to put any corals on the sandbed. 2.5 feet. :P

So Pete, did you end up making a trip to Reborn?

If he is not going for SPS, then he can still put NPS LPS on the sand bed. He even put clams there if he wants to. I presume he is using at least 6 tubes of T5?

I went to reborn today but they were out for a project till 5pm so I didn't go back after 5 as I had something else on. Will be going back probably on Wed/Thurs. Will keep a lookout for your fishes and corals... :eyebrow:

yeah... if you have no time for the next few months, throw the dead prawn in and let it cycle. Your system will be perfect. Just maintain 4hrs of blue light daily, don't even need to switch on chiller. you can come back to a fully cycled system, ready to go!

Can just choose low maintanence corals/fishes. auto feeder, auto water top up. Water change and clean tank walls when you come home. Many have done this. I've seen a totm from the other forum and he travels very extensively. His SPS and LPS are all thriving, super solid tank.

Actually if he is really really busy and yet wants to have a near perfect tank, he can get the maintenance package from AM/Rebron/Iwarna/most LFS. They will provide the manpower to maintain the tank for him for a monthly fee.

On the other hand, if he is just keeping a LPS dominated tank with very few fishes, then the maintanance he requires is actually very minimal. If he uses cyclopsee, mysis shrimp, coral 5 in 1 food to feed his corals and fishes, then basically he just needs his parents to throw in a cube of mysis shrimp and squirt some coral food into the tank 2-3 times a week.
