think you got affected by a malware.

I had a virus once which force me to reboot whenever I get connected to the internet.

PS: I am not IT pro hor.... so i might be very very wrong...

try running windows defender or lavasoft adaware, they should be able to detect and quarantine these

Bro if your trying to tackle a malware virus than McAfee nor Windows Defenders isn't going to help, I've used "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" and it works great.

There are 2 respected free-for-home use anti-virus that I know of: www.avast.com and free.avg.com.

Before installing any anti-virus, use the online scanners from most vendors to clean your system. Else, the anti-virus program will simply be disabled by the malware/virus in your system.

regardless of whether you are reformatting, it is always good to backup. I've lost so many files due to hdd crashing and lazy to backup.

btw when you are running anti virus software, avg is notorious for taking up loads of ram, might want to consider others.

Should be ok already (fingers crossed) after using the malwarebytes

Windows Defender once installed cannot be uninstall. You can only disable it.
