Back siphon. Your water input into the tank must have been more than 3/4 down from the top of your tank?!. Your water return pipe needs to have a small hole drilled. Drill the hole just below your water surface. It will stop the back siphon. I am stumped on why the tank maker did not advise you on this.

Always something more important than fish.

Fuel,

ever if he dosen't have a hole as you mentioned he still wouldn't drian his tank... sounds more like his water input is on the bottom of the tank without a safty valve(check valve) I know of one tank maker that has this crazy design.

Better to drill at least 2 holes. Just in case one of the hole is blocked.

Dear All

If there is a short circuit at home , any chance that there will be a back siphon from my return pipe chiller to the sump tank that causes my sump tank to overflow . As far i know that is the only return pipe goes deep in my main tank near to the sand bed.

Bro, you might need to change the sump tank. I think the height is not that safe when there is a return from the main tank if you off the pump. Can you take a pic of the return pipe and out flow pipe in your main tank? Somehing is not that right in the main tank because the water is too low.

Have wrote to QianHu with regards to the capabilities of the cabinet due to the overflow that has wet the bottom cabinet .

Leon from QianHu called me after an hour said that it will not affect the capabilities of the cabinet for the next 5 years .

After some discussions , we believe that due to power failure the return pipe from the chiller in the main tank back siphon the water into the sump tank that is likely to cause the overflow of the sump tank .

Lesson learned , will put the return pipe from the chiller back to the sump tank instead of the main tank .

I believe there is nothing wrong with the design of the sump & the piping .

Anyway great customer service again from QianHu Leon .

Many thanks to all inputs again .

Tread closed .
