Hi guys, what is your suggestion for an ideal temp to set for reef tank. Currently mine is set to 28 and all corals are doing fine.

Have 5 Suncorals

3 Bubble Corals

2 Hammers

Cheers!!

Don

I am going to set mine 27 - 28 deg cel.

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

2011 resolution : Do it simpler, better and in an easier way!

As long as temperature stays below 29 degrees you are pretty safe. Some corals might open better in lower temperatures. Mine's set between 27-28.5.

Thanks Bro for your tip :thanks: My Suncorals mainly spread their tenticles big in the night and i have been feeding them almost everyday the past 5 days in the daytime but according to henry's advise its better not to feed everyday as it will kill them. Is it possible to make them open full bloom during the daytime witout feeding all the the time as we all know overfeeding will spike the nitrates too.

I would be interested to know too :) Intend to try suncorals soon, and other non photosynthetic corals. My plan is to flood tank with cyclopeeze and phytoplankton. Based on my experience and my tank, I have not seen any spike in nitrates even when flooding frozen food 3-4 times a week.

I think Henry dishes out good advice on suncoral care. I would do whatever he has instructed. :)

edit: dude I think you should give Henry a call/sms. He doesn't always come to src to check threads, have to run his business too!

I set mine at 25.5'c... Best is 26'c to 26.5'c... But some says below 28'c will be safe... After all its up to you... Just a thing to note... Don not shift temp more than 2'c a day... as it may shock livestocks...

1ft cube with IOS [the low tech tank]

1. JBJ C-breeze to keep temp hovering around 27-28'C

2. LED clip on - 120 bulbs

-skimmer-less-

My 3 humble equipments that keeps my tank running... [DRIED OUT]

1. The RSM itself of course 2.My NEW Deltec MCE-300 Skimmer 3. My trusty Arctica Chiller

Tank parameters:

Temperature maintained at 25.3'C to 24.7'C

No3: 10ppm(b4 the use of the deltec skimmer)

No3: 5ppm (after use of the skimmer)

Others? too lazy to measure...LOL
