Is this your first WC? Are you cycling your tank or this is your first time changing in like a loooong time?

For a routine WC, make sure your salinity, ph and temperature are about the same. Unless you are doing an emergency water change don't change more than 30% of your water. Try to minimize stress to your fish. and have a towel on hand in case you spill water on the floor.

btw if you are mixing salt, aerate it at least 24hrs before changing. Longer is better.
