Protein Skimmer For A 30 Gallon Tank?

I have used a boyu skimmer before, not bad, considering the price. i used it for around 1 year before upgrading to a reef octopus DNWB 110. The boyu skimmer... oh well, it may not be the best skimmer in the world (the reef octo is more efficient than the boyu, but at the end of the day, both produced about the same ammount of skimate) but in my opinion, it served me well. After all, my reef tank survived, with corals, a clam and fishes; and this is considering that i am very inconsistent at doing water changes - during that year or so, i only changed the water like, what? 4 or 5 times? FYI, it was a 2 foot tank. i think i got by with letting the algae grow and absorb nutrients. I would then scrape it off weekly and have most of it land up in the boyu skimmer.

In short, a boyu skimmer is not THAT bad a skimmer. You should be able to support a lightly-stocked tank with it.

Any Deltec MCE 600 users care to share some pics of the skimmate? I'm also considering in getting one.

It's too smelly to tahan taking photo! :P Anyway i posted this photo sometime back when my tank was extremely lightly stocked. My skimmate is at least 5 times more than this now.

That looks pretty sick! How often do you need to clear the cup now?
