Some questions about tank specs

Hi i'm intending to set up a a 3ftx1.5x1.5 tank to keep wrasses.

Will a 5-6mm thick tank be ok?

Also, are the normal wrought iron stands ok for marine usage? I noticed that most people are using customized wooden cabinets.

Lastly i intend to go sumpless with a HOB skimmer. Alright for a fowlr?

Thanks in advance!

3ft tank, got for at least 8mm.

Normal wrought iron stands are ok but you have to take into consideration that they will definately rust so it's better to get stainless steel stands instead if you have the budget.

For a sumpless setup, you will definately need a powerful HOB skimmer. The Deltec MCE600 would be sufficient for your use. Also, you will need to get a good cannister filter with a high flow rate and a chiller at the very minimum.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

If you intend to keep deep water fishes, a chiller is more reliable than fan. I would also recommend using eheim canisters for their reliability.

wrasses are known to jump. In your case, a 1.5 ft height gives them v. little buffer. Might want to consider getting some form of lid/netting.
