The cooling capacity of the two chillers is totally different. Flow rate requirements for the two chillers are also different. Depending on your tank size, you may require either the 1HP chiller or the 1/3HP chiller.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

my tank size is 5x2x2.5 and sump is 3.5x1.5x1.5 so which type would cool down more effective?

The total water volume in your tank & sump will be around 800-900L so the 1/3HP Artica chiller will be sufficient for your use.

How often the chiller kicks in depends on how fast the water in your aquarium heats up. Other than your MH and T5 lights, additional sources of heat will come from the environment as well as any submissible pumps or powerheads that you use.

juz to add, it oso depends a lot on the flow rate of ur chiller return pump..my 2 cents

You might want to consider to switch to LED lighting to reduce the kick in time. I am using a 1/3 for my 5 x 2 x 2.5 with 3 1/2 ft sump. Set at 26.8. It will keep in for 45min and last 2 hour before next kick in. I am using a 52Watt LED light too and on for 8-9 hours.

I understand commercial unit needs to run the piping + coil + external temp controller and you need to have a place for the huge compressor.
