Advice needed on tank transfer

Hi bros, need some advice.. have bought a new 3 ft tank and would like to migrate all my livestock and corals over from current 2 feet tank. The tank running half full with fresh saltwater for a few days and circulated by hydor K3...

would it be more recommended to transfer everythin in a single day or in stages eg live sand first, check for stability then transfer livestock ? Intend to transfer all existing water from 2 ft tank into new tank too...

thing is I'll reuse my hang on back filter which has been running for past 18 months, direct transfer media and all (of course will add additional filtration. Worried that if transfer sand first, filter later or vice versa will do more harm than one shot get it done with...

what's your livestock in the 2ft?

about 20kg for now...

is it compulsory to have more rock now for bigger tank since all bioload remains the same just pampered abit more by having more water volume ?? cos I know i will fill up the 3 ft tank graudually with my coral purchases...

bro u will need more rock if not for filtration purposes, but for future coral purchases. 3ft tank will look v. bare with so few rocks. But it's not compulsory, if you like less rock, then go for the open, zenlike look. Bio filtration can always be handled in the sump using bio home or more live rocks in future as your bioload increases. lol i had to dig up old threads to find ures! Think must make a list on sharing the blue tub le... anyone wants to do tank migration can 'borrow' from src. idea?
