It's normal. I keep them in 5 gallons and they go missing. That's why I bought 10. I should be able to see a few that way, provided they don't reduce each other to 1.

i love suns but my laziness always gets the better of me.

seeing them turn from orange to grey due to STN caused by under-feeding is so depressing.

yea.. thats the down side of keeping suns sadly..

have to keep feeding, esp the normal suns

i believe if they can photosynthesize the price of suns wouldnt be so cheap already.. haha..

i think getting the $60 is more worth it..

tank temperature is 26-28 degrees..

the super suns opened immediately within minutes after i blew the "smell" of henry's food over them... (lights were not on yet)

when they came out i started target feeding them...

after the lights came on, they remained open all the way,

until right now they're still open..

amazing!

one of the heads out of the 7 i got however didnt open at all despite all the feedings..

hopefully over time i can get it to open...

They are normally collected around Indonesian and Fiji waters and are somewhat common. The two main species covered here are the Tubastrea and Dendrophyllia variants.

tenticals are starting to open up more...

hopefully by next week it can be fully open like the rest

Actually SuperSuns are Balanophyllia, not Dendrophyllia... But the care pretty similar..

most of the time results of the normal sun coral comes up..

Super Sun = Dendrophyllia sp. There are four, maybe more, species of Dendrophyllia. D. gracilis, D. arbuscula, D. fistula and the super rare super beautiful, D. ramea. The supersuns from LCK are Dendrophyllia fistula. Do a google search on these.

Balanophyllia is different from the above two. they are very uncommon and always come in only 1-4 heads.

This is balanophyllia. Look at the skeleton and compare with super sun. it's different.

Balanophyllias have very smooth edges on the lip of the corallite, and the tentacles are either transparent, lime green, pink or orange.

Bro, auntie usually has a chopper (kinda rusty by now) and a hammer near the packing counter. You can borrow it the next time to do your own fragging on the spot. Place the blade on the rock, swing down with the hammer on top of the blade, ta da!
