not necessarily need to hang upside down. it's just that in the wild, alot of them grow in alot of weird orientation. simply because they don't care how they grow because they are not-light dependant.

they are 100% non-photosynthetic. need to be fed everyday live baby brine shrimp, phytoplankton, cyclopeeze etc.

this is the hardest non-photosynthetic coral to maintain and will never survive past a few months. these corals live for decades and decades in the wild. last a few months in our tank is not considered surviving. it's just prolonged death.

so far have not heard of anyone in the world to sustain this. wanna be the first? hehe

you are capable of such a task!

full califlower nano maybe.

they always look very beautiful on shipment days ><

Brown SPS > Kinder Surprise

White SPS = Kinder Surprise after expiry date

Assumption killed the dinosaurs, they didnt have test kits.

couldnt find much info here on this forum..

googled it up, realise that it cannot be placed close to any other corals..

very aggressive..

so its kinda resting at the top of my rocks now..

gave it some flow ...

oh well,

if this doesnt make it,

i wont get another one again...

just wanna have the experience of keeping some bright coloured soft corals...

you will need a dedicated tank for the cauliflower only and flood it with food everyday. because of this extreme feeding requirment, alot of corals cannot be kept.

actually, chingchai from thailand (if you dunno him by now you've been living under a rock), the one with the very impressive huge tank, has a dedicated softy tank. and he has some cauliflowers inside. but dunno how long liao.

very nice. u shud check out his thread in reef central.

this forum's database is devoid of interesting livestock in the archives. the singaporean market is not adventurous that's why alot of interesting fish don't appear in our market. that said, not many ppl willing to try them and also corals. thats why not many articles on cauliflower. i'm trying to pump this forum with stuff like this to increase the content of forum archives, so that more useful search results appear. that's why the colini and golden angel log, as well as some other fishy articles.

take for example lunate wrasse, pintail wrasse, etc. they all go to japan and US where people are willing to pay and try.

it's ok, try them once and you will realise cauliflowers are next to impossible. unless you are very dedicated.

nothing ventured nothing gain my friend :)

on a side note, they need plenty of flow and as little light as possible. as for aggressiveness, i dunno. i'm unsure about the aggressiveness for cauliflowers.

Cauliflower is able to keep healthy.. They need "dirty" water or nutrient laden water... You can spam Phytoplankton, Zooplankton, Cyclopeeze, Rotifer(???)... I used to spam Phyto and Cyclopeeze for my old tank with Cauliflower/Dendro and the "Pepper" Seafan... All openning and growing... Plus growth of brown algae and green algae... LOL... So it is difficult to get a balance...

so i guess u need to run FR with lab grade ferric oxide to neutralise the nutrients

it's definitely do-able, but it's rather you want to or not bah.

thanks for all the advice guys... :ThanxSmiley:

i shall monitor it and update on its progress (if there's any progress at all).. haha..

i dont think i'll go to the extent of spamming phytocure everyday just to keep it alive, at the expense of the health of my other LS...

dont want algae to start blooming everywhere...

I am not sure if phytocure will cause any algae bloom, But the old times, DT phyto will cause abit of bloom...

I must say cauliflowers are some of the prettiest corals and colours are stunning. A real pity that they can't be kept alive for long. I'm trying out cauliflowers in my high organic nutrient tank and see if it works w alternate days of dosing phyto. If not, got to forgo these corals indefinitely.

I dose reef nutrition rotifiers, phytofeast, oysterfeast, seachem amino acid 2 times a week

then dose kent marine zooplex, phytoplex, chromaplex, 2 times a week

reefbooster, garlic drop, vitamin C once a week. skimmer off for 2 hrs after dosing.

so far ok. Algae appears only on 4th day onwards.

I think most of the stuff gets skimmed away by my MCE.

Updates:

bugattilambo came over today to take all my remaining LRs..

i suddenly realised something very horrifying...

now that my LRs in the sump are all gone,

will my tank face any problem?

currently i still have biohomes in my sump to host the bacteria..

as well as few pieces of big LRs in my tank together with the artificial rocks..

should i dose bacteria?

the problem is,

i just dosed bioptim on Monday...

will i overdose if i choose to dose biodigest today, just 3 days after i dose bioptim..
