flow rate of the return pump affect the performance of the skimmer?

Will the flow rate of the return pump affect the performance of the skimmer? Cause i am thinking the skimmer is processing the water in the sump tank, so if the turn over rate of the water in the sump tank is high, the skimmer can process more water in the same period of time. Is it correct?

Theoratically speaking, yes.

Practically speaking if the turnover of your water in the sump is high but your skimmer is not efficient, it probably won't make much of a difference.

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

Eheim return 1 * pump

1 HP Daikin compressor with cooling coil
2 Jebao OW40, 1 ecotech MP40,

Yes i agree, so i going to do a experiment to see, whether my skimmer is efficient or not.

My return pump for now is aquabee 3000. So to find out whether flow rate of the return pump affect the performance of the skimmer, this is what i am going to do. Using the same skimmer, same fish tank, same amount of fishes as control and the same duration. The only thing different is the return pump. Just get the rio 32hf pump today. With a flowrate of 8000l/hr, it should have a turn over rate of around 10x instead of 4x. We will ignore the headloss for easier calculation.
