About 3 - 4 weeks once or when I do major changes to husbandry or when I did not do husbandry :P

I try to observe the corals condition as a signal.

When you sense something is not right or when you have an algae boom, check the params.

This is my 3rd week already. Have not done WC yet. Die die must do tml.

Lagging behind this week.

oh, not even a little top up ?

I normally test nitrates on a weekly basis. No choice due to my heavy feeding. And also because I'm using AZ NO3 to keep my nitrates down, I also monitor to see if I should do a double dose if the nitrates suddenly shoot up. Normally I try to maintain my nitrates between 10-25ppm. Normally when it hits 50ppm i will dose AZ NO3 in the morning and at night and the nitrates will drop back to between 10-25 within 2-3 days.

I seldom test Phophates but when I see an algae bloom, then I will use a phosphate remover like PO4 minus to remove the phosphates. I should probably set up a FR to run an additional PO4 removal media. Right now, I am using carbon and phosphate removal media in my cannister filter.

I also seldom test calcium and magnesium. Basically because I do not keep SPS, the calcium usage of my tank is pretty low. I just dose additives weekly or bi-weekly. When I do a water change using NSW, then I will test all parameters after changing the water.

ok bro thanks. I also don't monitor phosphates and just keep an eye on algae, got both carbon and PO4 removal as media. Just check my nitrates weekly. I do about 10% WC weekly, got NSW aerating in a big tub.

Well, next time if you need any carbon or PO4 media, let me know. I can get quite a good price for Aquamedic carbon and PO4 media. Or we could just share since I always get 5L of carbon and 1L of PO4 media.

Just target fed all my yumas, blastos, suns..... with mysis.

Used chopstick to manually feed each mouth.

Total 60 mouths!

hands very tired now.....

gotta wake up at 6am tml.

Sweet dreams everyone!

there's a better way...just freeze yr mysis in yr freezer.

when its time to feed yr corals...just take out a frozen cube and place it in the water to target feed yr corals.

once the cube starts to melt in yr water, the mysis will float in the mouths of yr corals. you can rub the cube with yr fingers while in the water to diffuse the mysis.

You can get the JBL PO4 media...only $18 for 2 packages with filter bags...reborn auntie says this is as good as rowaphos

why chopsticks?

i can imagine using chopsticks to grab mysis shrimps, so tiring!

should get a syringe,

can feed all your corals like feeding baby like that :P

haha. maybe quite exp, but I got this SeaSquirt, basically a huge syringe which can extend up to 3 ft, normal length about 2 ft. Also has an extendable plastic pin for meaty stuff.

Kiko, Poomoon

Peter is right. I already have the seasquirt.

I am not able to tuck mysis onto the tentacles of the blastos and leaving mysis on the the yumas mouth is also a challenge using that.

Chopstick actually gives you more control.

I need to find a long long pair....

Peter Tay aka AhSiang :P

I have the frozen mysis in cube form.

letting them defrost in the tank will foul the water leh.

I prefer to use feed sparingly so as not to dirty my water so much.

nano lah .... must be careful.

trust me..it won't foul yr water...u using hikari brand rite, $2 per strip? i will rinse it first so that it melts easier.

i used 3 cubes per feed on alternate days...so far no problem...no algae boomz...and i dun have a skimmer.

Dun wanna have that happening in my tank. -==> Stubborn me, Paiseh :P

Aslo I need to place 1 - 2 shrimp on yumas. cannot do it without chopsticks/ pincers.

yr yuma eat shrimp...not bad...mine dun eat...tried placing it near the mouth area..after a while, they will drop it..like telling me...yuks!...dun give me that..so in the end they just eat those pods and micro organisms in my tank.

yah some of the yumas do. saw them devouring it.

some don't though. maybe not so hungry.

Now that I have them off my sandbed, I dun have to worry about the nassarius snails snatching the shrimps from the yumas.

nassarius snails are cute..

imagine having 20 of them, but all under the sandbed..

come feeding time, BOOMZ!

all crawl out together to snatch for food..

quite eerie.... appear out of nowhere :)

but my girl loves them.

will be scary if suddenly 20 of them appears.

although these are CUCs.... but do note they produce a lot of waste too.

I housed a few snails and a Tux urchin in my beta box for a few days.... the amount of waste collected in that box is really a lot...!!!!

So do not overstock CUCs too. Might do more harm then good.

hehe i cut up shrimp really small and use long tweezer to feed the yuma, but yeah if slow even my clown will grab it. now just turn of filter and skimmer and squirt some pods on the yumas, too small i guess for the clowns to notice, then they close up and start eating. though for the bubble, still use the tweezer to feed with shrimp time to time.

does yuma poo or throw up ? <_<

I think they do. I have seen white curly substance and black ones spurted out from their mouth before.

Hey, I also got 2 of them; nassarius snails I meant.

One of them seemed to be making marks on the glass wall.

Not sure what are those marks. Any answer?

(-_-) Happy will do ... (o_o)

ok. i saw something like a black looking ball just outside it's mouth, and still some slime think connected to the mouth. when i sucked it with the seasquirt and dispensed it out a paper towel, it spread like a lot of poo ... yuck
