do water change 20-30% and dose trace elements might help a bit...

if i m not wrong blastos do need feeding regularly and strong lighting...ever since i started to feed them with frozen mysis...they do better and the heads stop melting....i think those meaty prawns are too much for them to digest which i used to feed them with.

blasto merletti are more hardy, though they r not as attractive as blastomussa...

Think they might be unhappy with the lack of attention during your JPN Trip rather than feeding regime.

(They were suffering while you were enjoying yourself with the Shark!)

However for your reference, I feed my tank with

DT's Phytoplankton, 5 in 1 coral food, mysis, Henry's food, Artic pods, Rotifiers, NLS pellets.

but I only target feed my suns. will try target feeding my yumas and blastos once a week soon.

I dose with Strontium, dKH buffer, MG, Iodine, Trace Elements, calcium weekly now.

I have stopped using distilled water from NTUC.

Currently just adding water conditioners into tap water.

not sure if it is advisable to do 30% WC since they are not doing well.

It might not be Water condition. if too drastic changes are made, might stress them more.

If want to change 30%, then maybe spread over a couple of days.

For suns, did u you try seeing if they are opened 1 -2 hrs after you switch off the lights?

Also they are "appetizers" additives that help the corals open up before feeding.

Cannot remember what they are called.

Check with Peter if those are useful. He bought before.

WC, I get from SL pre mix SW.

Good excuse to go LFS too.

Doing bi weekly WC. 10%.

Ray

I edited my earlier post. Go check with Peter on the additives.

You might experience more algae growth from using tap water.

I used to treat my tap water in a jelly can and i dumped a bag of carbon inside + chlorine remover and leave it for a few days b4 i use.

But i'm still skeptical of using tap water, so eventually switched back to ntuc water...coz i notice brown algae will appear when i used treated tap water.

wow.... k k. let me monitor.

If true, then I will have to switch to DI unit already.

I finished 1 carton of distilled water in a few weeks.

i used on avg 8-10 bottles per week...that meant 32-40 bottles per month...coz i change 3 times per week plus water top-up.

another alternative is to get nsw in a jelly can form...$12 in SL...eventually you can just buy them in plastic bags and pour into yr jelly can. but if u dun drive, then this method will be xiong...must well just push back ntuc trolley back to yr home with 2-3 cartons.

Yup...its always good to get yr CO to agreed.

i'm planning for a 4ft but height will be 1ft..shallow reef, lower volume & height for easy maintenance and manageable w/o tearing my wallet and my back.

for skimmer either i get a low end one like aquanut or higher end one like skimz...why skimz...anything wrong i can just go to AM...otherwise, will be china brand bubble magus......grotech HEA 150 is also part of the consideration. i kinda of like grotech.

hey when you plan for your new tank that time can jio me already.

I will be building a new one too but still a nano. Prob a 2x1.5x1.5

But that time, my acrylic could be all scratched already,

why dun go for 3ft x 1ft x 1.5ft? (L x H x B) or 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5?
