To be frank, my nano tank PH is now ard 7.9 and all my fishes are doing very well including my goby.

did yours drop from 8.3 - 7.9 like in 2 - 3 hrs?

i have seen white pods but not black ones.

These are totally black and came out to grab food!

anyway if you did proper acclimatization, I would assume the high fin died from the wild ph swing. If not, the ph swing would have exacerbated the process.

I try not to do water change within 2-3 days of introducing new LS. Don't want to stress them too much. Even when water changing, need to check your new water to ensure parameters are about the same.

Yeah it should be rather healthy. i did acclimatize it.

unless if it is a very very timid fish and I stress it to death during WC.

unless if yours is a nano, anything bigger than 2 ft dun advise using acrylic.

definitely not easy to maintain.

why do you want acrylic? my case I am worried my girl will smash the glass when she swing things around.

You can opt for high grade glass which gives the same clarity. Go check out ELOS tank. Glass tank can be as clear. just more expensive though.

Nope but I dun think they are harmful though...

btw, a ph swing of 0.2 within a day is considered the limit fishes and corals can tolerate. A ph swing of 0.4 like yours within 2-3hrs last night... can be disastrous.

If your sps survived, should be lucky le. I'm not sps keeper, but I believe they are sensitive to ph swings too.

Anyway, just to cheer you up. I also read before tt changing water when the fish are sleeping is beneficial coz less stressful for them as they will all be hiding in the rocks already.

Ehhh....Nope. Mine went from 8.2 to 7.8 in ard 2 weeks. I tested the water at 8.2 and 2 weeks later, it dropped to 7.8. Now it is ard 7.9. But I am quite surprised that your PH can drop so much within such a short time...

SPS are very sensitive to any sudden changes in water parameters which is the main reason why I am not keeping SPS in my tank.

Think I need to raise my dKH to very much higher.

My PH is still fluctating greatly.

Morning was 7.95. Now it is 8.22. Might reach 8.3 later ... double

try aerating your new water for 24hours before adding to bring up the ph next time?

Actually if you want pistol to park somewhere visible can force him to relocate and cut a small pipe and push into the sandbed for him to 'adopt' as his home.

Now they are puking out the remnants of the prawn and it is fouling the water.

you must have overfed them alot.. they hardly puke out their food.. the only other reason is you must have stressed them during the wc... thats why they puke..

Don't expect them to open 24hrs lei... your LED quite strong also.

My rhizo prob only open 16 out of 24hrs. Suns even lesser, prob 12 out of 24hrs.
