Jacky, u are going to start a Maxspect G2 mania in Singapore now...

lol no lah.... but after using the MH for one over month and now looking and MaxSpect G2.

Wow... really no comparison.

The LED brings out better colouration of my corals - I can see my purple zoas now instead of pink :)

Yes I can see my pink zoas instead of light brown. haha...

The difference is obvious.

in ur opinion, can I use this on a 2.5' long tank? Will it. Give a good spread?

How many power plugs does this come with? I believe it has in-built timer yes?

I'm thinking you should probably use the 160W version... :eyebrow::whistle

My Setup:

3x2x2 tank with IOS

Equipment List:

Chiller: Artica 1/5HP

Chiller Pump: Sicce 4000

Return Pump: OR3500

Skimmer: Deltec APF600

Wavemaker: Tunze Wavebox/2x Hydor K2/SCWD wavemaker

Lights: DElighting 2x150W MH + 2x 39W T5 Atinic

FR: Skimz

FR Pump: Atman AT-104

Tubby ATO, Kalkweisser Reactor with magnetic stirrer.

Hi wilson

I think the max tank length it can support is 2 feet if you want a good spread throughout the full length.

If you use it on a 2.5 feet, then maybe the left & right side of the tank (approx 10 cm from the tank wall) will be dimmer than the center.

What light are you using now? cause there are also hardly any 2.5 lightset available. (maybe just Aquazonic T5?)

If your scaping are away from the tank wall, then you can prob make do with it.

Otherwise you can either

- get the 80cm version (which is more costlier)

- get a 60W + 110W version

But best person to talk to is still Razali (nick Dr Evil). He will be able to advise you better.

The unit only has 1 AC power plug and yes there is a built in timer in the driver for both the blue and white LED individually.

I might be getting a lot of queries about the difference between 150W MH 20k and the current 110W MaxSpect LED module.

So here's a picture which might speak a thousand words.

The camera setting for these 2 shots are exactly the same.

No editing done on both photos.

Under MH. notice the shadowy areas.

I cannot see my PPE zoas.

Under the MaxSpect G2 LED.

Will post more thoughts over the next few days.

The brightness is obvious...and of course the CREE leds brings out the colours of the corals...

This is a wonderful upgrade!...boomz

Nice scape bro!

Continue doing what you have been doing and keep a check on your water parameters k!

A tang is quite fierce on the system with their poos! :S

Anyway give you a good news, from my own experience, I think zoas which have suffered from zoapox can recover from the disease and continue to survive and propagate. It has happened to me before so I can vouched for this. However, one thing definite is that you must look into the root of the zoapox problem ie. lightings, addictives, water parameters etc and remove it. Otherwise, the problem will recirculate itself someday and you are still going to lose the zoa.

And zoapox is not really the end of the world, truly. Don't look it as something that bad, like I said before it's just a warning alarm from your zoas to you. Quoting from zoaid.com, the author believes that a good seawater dip/change can help to elevate the health of the zoa to fight off the disease which I believe till now works. So give it a try someday k! (:

Above is just my 2 cents ah. Hope it works for you k! Happy Chinese New Year!

Thanks bro !

The Tang - is a must. I really like the striking yellow moving around in the tank. try to resist it but cannot.

Also my girl really likes this fish. Will try to find a work around to manage the bioload issue.

Zoapox - Those infected seemed to have stopped the rot. I lost about 40% on this frag.

Left with the left and right portion and they seemed to be surviving.

Hoping for the best.

As for the cause - damn, mine is a nano, could be light, could be salinity fluctuations, could be PH fluctuations, ... can be anything...

can only keep my fingers crossed that the last outbreak was just due to new tank syndrome.

and yeah, will be doing religious weekly WC and hope that helps.

Nice scape bro!

a tang really doesnt belong in a nano. but guess it isnt so bad in a 1.5 ft... have seen ppl fitting them in tanks much much smaller. yellow wrasses are strikingly yellow and do well in pairs to make up for their small size.

yellow tangs grow quite fast and you will have to sell it off in time to come. so enjoy it now while it lasts :)

let me see how it turns out.

I only feed my fishes 2x a day.

Each time about 5 pellets for each fish.

Each week, they will get to eat some of the floating mysis when I feed my suns, blastos and rics.

And then prob some of the coral food that I dose.
