SRC Member teebs Posted January 27, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted January 27, 2010 wah...u trying to achieve perfect water parameters ah? Not really lah, just that hair algae is growing quite fast in my tank. Also my tank walls get covered with algae 2-3 days after cleaning. Tropic marin po4 test indicates some phosphates in my tank but the colour I get does not match any colour on their chart... Just went C328 and bought a bottle of AZOO PO4 remover. Dumped 50ml into my tank and now super cloudy... Now that I can maintain my nitrates below 10ppm for the time being, I guess it's time for me to try to maintain my PO4 at a low level. I'm running a FR in my sump with Aquamedic Phosphate remover and also a cannister with carbon and Aquamedic Phosphate remover. But I guess the amount of phosphates in my tank could be more than what they can remove within a short period of time. jackywongto
No need to put it in a filter media box? Most effective in a FR. Else sump, cannister will do but not as effective. jackywongto
well, took the plunge and dosed biodigest, tim and reef booster. Reefbooster is quite oil based. Now tank is rather murky. I spilled 75% of my Digest. So dosed the remainly 25% into my tank. 50% of Biotim and about 35% of reefbooster. Remaining amount is chilled in my fridge. Rics curled up. They have balled up even more as I post. They are pretending to be monti now lol. super sun tentacles stunted by polyp still extended. yumas seemed to have enlarged. cloves looked strange. mouth opened but arms seemed too heavy. Gonio has nice extensions. about 2 inch. SRC Member teebs Posted January 27, 2010 SRC Member Share Posted January 27, 2010 So u finally took the plunge... Tank murky after dosing reef booster is expected i guess...see if your skimmer skims out more than normal these few days. And rics, yeah, they curl up like a ball at night. And open up when there is light. Yumas need low light, low flow, rics need high light, low flow. Measure your nitrates tomorrow to see if it has increased. jackywongto
Wow, your gonio can extend so much .... yeah I think they need pretty strong light. I placed them on sandbed and they were not doing so well. less than 1 cm extension. Moved them up to the top as per Samsies advice and they have been opening more by the day since. now avg about 1.5 inch - 2 inch. and a lot of baby polyps at the bottom. There is even a layer of oil on the surface. Doing more surface skimming now. hmm thinking how I can move the rics higher..... maybe I will just bring the MH lower but ==> more evaporation and more heat. Use eggcrate to make a stand to raise your rics higher. Yumas and mushies can be put below the egg crate stand. Don't think there is any space on your rocks to place the rics though.
