soooo freakin tired.

What was supposed to be a simple addition of artificial rock turned into a complete disaster and anohter 3 hrs work!

Just when I have found a suitable place to put my rock, the minute I took out my hand from the tank, the whole bloody rockscape collaspe.

Shouldn't have tried to move the entire scape back by a inch earlier. totall regretted it.

The rocks fell on yumas, cloves, gonio toppled facing down..... had to do a 50% rescape.

took out corals, restack rocks, re-epoxy, OMG.... totally shack. Then realized some of the zoas frag has been detached.

reglued, repositioned, ..... bla bla bla

Worst thing is that I am not prepared for this and cannot do WC.

turn on the cannister to a stronger flow.

Placed half a piece of polyfilter into the tank.

Now hoping for the best and that there will be minimum casualty.

.... Grrrr what a terrible night..... and it was supposed to be hamster maintenance night... not the tank!

hopefully it does not look too bad when the corals open up tomorrow.

happened to me before when i tried to stick my blastos...bam...boomz!...my rocks fell..good thing is...most of my corals are still glued on the rocks...and i managed to salvage within 15mins and took that opportunity to throw away a dead rock that has been leaking nitrate into my water.

i hope your corals will recover...we learnt thru blunders like these...that's one of the reasons why i have prepared SW for water change anytime.

you must have felt damn espired rite?...i mean tired.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Will know how the corals fare when I get back tonight.

Last night almost feel like jump dumping everything in the tank and go to bed without scaping.

Hey I realize each time after I used D&D epoxy, my Tunze 9002 will not be able to foam after that.

you literally need to strip the skimmer and clean every single part (hose, air nozzel, pump.....) before it can function again.

Wow...why is that so? Something in the D&D epoxy that causes this?

Yes I epoxy in the water.

Peter, the epoxy gives out a slime.... I suspect the internal of the skimmer got too slimy and is not able to foam after that or maybe the airvalve got choked.

dun use D&D epoxy...dump it! its useless...just go ntuc get the selley's epoxy..only $5 plus and its very strong and does not affect yr water. this D&D epoxy will cause yr water to turn milky and does not stick well...last time i used it to stick my staghorn frags...all of them fell and the SPS keep producing slim and made my water so milky plus the epoxy...until my tank nearly crash.

Nope...me also using the Sellys epoxy. So far so good. But what you need to do is to dry ypur frags and the rock you want to stick it on. Then u can apply the epoxy to the frag and press it down on the rock. If the rock is wet, the epoxy will not stick well. Epoxy will harden in ard 3 minutes and once harden, it's difficult to remove your frag from the rock it is bonded to.

I also saw the sellys epoxy for water applications at a hardware store. Giant only has the general application type. So I believe the one for water applications might be better but not sure if it can be used in water. Japan Home also has one type of epoxy that can be used in water. Not too bad also.

I do not understand about the Tunze 9002; as in why is it not foaming when you use epoxy. By right skimmers should be foaming a helluva water and stuff when epoxy is curing underwater. That's what I notice on my Reef Octopus skimmer when it skimmed a red bucket full of plain whitish foamy seawater from my main tank :S

As such, I never try to cure huge chunks of epoxy inside water. Scary experience :S

But epoxy, I have never tried D&D epoxy so I cannot comment. I've tried Aquaz though. It works just as well as other epoxy putties around in the market. The price however, made me change to industrial/marine industry sorta epoxy. $9 per tube; works just as fine as Aquaz's. Toxic or not, I think it's relevant to one another, cause the chemicals used to make them I suppose should be the same. So far, no problem for my corals apart for my skimmer which foams non stop when I use epoxy on my frags/rockscape, AND that can be an ######! :S

Suppose to be poisonous to be consumed lah, but heng we got something called skimmer to help out with the poisonous stuff and our diligience in water changes help to lower such levels in our captive marine environmment. so end of the day, not much detrimental effect on our livestocks luh, as such as we can still continue to stick our expensive sticks and dimes with super glue! :D

I got such impulse sometimes myself

Hey I realize each time after I used D&D epoxy, my Tunze 9002 will not be able to foam after that.

you literally need to strip the skimmer and clean every single part (hose, air nozzel, pump.....) before it can function again.

I think it's the oil from the epoxy. Somehow it's a chemical reaction between 2 putty as a result, causing an oily film to be produced. Suggestion is to mix the epoxy with plain FW and let it cure somehow outside of tank then quickly stick it on whatever you want to stick and hope it doesnt drop (:

After which usually for me is to do a water change to remove the oily film and go to bed, cause too tired to continue anything for an old man like me :P
