wowowowow!!

i love the cabinet sleek and modern design, super nice cabinet!!!

Last but not least, the JBJ 24G Nano cabinet

Went hunting around for a low side table that can be used as a stand but unable to find one at a reasonable price.

The black background actually blend in well with the cabinet.

This is my probably my last update for the next 2 - 3 weeks.

Till my Tunze, MP10, and other stuff arrives.

Gotta wrap up the tank for the time being.

Any comments, suggestions , pls feel free to shoot them off here.

No offence will be taken

bro can tell me how much for the tank?

its about $250 (you will have some small change) for the 8mm.

for the 6mm, its slightly less than $200.

I will be going back to them to fabricate my top cover one I have my lighting sorted out.

So i can refer you and Terryz if you guys are interested.

Just PM me and let me know.

Hey Onizuka, its a standard JBJ cabinet lah... nothing special. I was hoping the base is a little smaller though.

And another disadvantage is that there is a small gap between the base and the floor.

This will trap dust. I am thinking of modifying it so that the base flushes on the floor.

BTW, the black sand quantity in 1 packet is rather little, make sure you have order enough for yourself.

wow I love the modified cabinet too! Absolute stunner! 2 thumbs up for your project bro!

on the cautious side, the 4 cylindrical support thingy should be able to hold the weight of your tank right?

I did not mod anything lol.

It is a standard JBJ 24G nano tank.

So yeah, it should hold.

Plus mine is an acrylic tank so it is even lighter than the JBJ glass tank.

I used to have sumps in my previous tanks and I hate them - despite knowing their advantages.

They cost the hinges to rust, you will have lots of additional pumps and cables inside, messy messy messy.

So going for a clean cut look this time.

getting the Tunze Reefpack 200. Opting for minimum eqpt if possible.

So just a square open tank, chiller, lighting, Tunze reefpack, mp10.

But I am looking at a couple more things to add.

1) ATO... not sure how much evaporation there is.

The reefpack is very sensitive to water level.

2) American Pinpoint ORP monitor.

3) American Pinpoint PH monitor.

Because you won't have space to hide your ATO, I suggest looking at delighting's ato system. Tunze osmolator is good, as long as you don't mind abit more clutter.

I'm not familar with american pinpoint's orp n ph monitor, but I just leave my american pinpoint salinity monitor in the tank, ot v. intrusive, should be fine?

Delighting has ATO? k will check it out.

the american pinpoint should be okays. Just 1 probe each. I used to have them. Do not think they will be very visible.

hi bro, mine is only 12g and half a pack already filled up 5cm height of sand in the nano cube already haha.

thrown in the other half in a plastic bowl and put it in my refug, looks cool!

btw, found this on the web and can share with you.

Gravel in Aquarium:

To determine the number of pounds of gravel required for a rectangular aquarium

Length (in inches) x Width (in inches) x Desired gravel Dept (in inches) x 0.05 = how many pounds of sand needed

hope this help bro

Thanks Onizuka.

The formula can apply to dry sand but not the live sand.

The live sand package contains some liquid which makes the bag of sand much heavier.

Using the formula, I need only about 16 lbs but I need at least 3 packs of 20lbs live sand :cry2:

Hi bro! he's using Tunze reefpack 200, is like all in one filter/skimmer. Really nice product, same as its bigger brother. But only issue is the doc skimmer requires almost constant water levels, tt's why ATO is a must :)

Nano Reefpack 200

(0200.000)

TUNZE® Nano Reefpack 200 constitutes a new water treatment concept for small reef aquariums from 40 to 200 litres (10.5 to 52.8 USgal.). WOW! That is really neat and modern looking! You should consider plans to hide your reefpack and lighting, this open top look is quite designer and artsy :P

Using the JBJ stand for your tank is a master stroke, it looks 100X better than using it with a JBJ tank. Sorry if I sound excited, I wish I came up with that idea hahahaha.

By the way, you don't have to buy the magic eraser from Amazon, Daiso sells a series of similar products in various sizes. Can be found at supermarkets and neighbourhood sundry stores too. And i'm sure you know this, but it's better to clean the glass with a plastic card nearer to the bottom, sponges and magnet cleaners will drag the sand and cause massive deep scratches to your acrylic surface.

My 1.5ft nano cube

My 24G nano tank (Decommed)

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate.

And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Thanks bud!

The reason i did not do an IOS is because of cost and flexibility. I also wanted to have that little extra gallon without IOS. The acrylic maker are not tank specialist so I need to be very precise with the dimensions which I am not very good with. If anything is wrong, I would have to birng it back to them to redo the tank.... just don't have time for those things. Rather stay with the KISS theory (Keep it simple) The background is black So I am hoping it will not be too obvious.

For the lighting, I will definitely end up with a hanging fixture. Just whether it is a DIY LED, or Eco KR2 or Giesseman Nova... I am still undecided.

I did try looking for melamine sponge. Carrefour was out of stock. The sundry stores had ones that comes with Japanese wordings and it seem there are 2 different packaging. Not sure which one i should get. Did not have a chance to drop by IMM. Yeah for a start I will use Mr Clean and in the meantime try the local ones on my tank cover as an acid test.

I have been thinking about cleaning the acrylic near the edge around the sand bed. I usually siphon the sandbed when doing wc. SO I guess I will off the pump and try to siphon the sand around the walls away then clean the tank wall. hopefully this will minimize scratches. I think it is inevitable that I will get scratches a the base. Just hope i can minimize it.

yup i have heard about the credit card trick.

Just wondering if anyone else here in this forum owns an acrylic? would love to hear from them.

Hmm actually I dislike the Tunze circular collection cup. Thinking of customizing it to have a hose direct the waste to a collection bottle at the bottom of the tank.

Well can only plan on this when I see the actual skimmer. If anyone has any idea, let me know pls.

Arh yours is the wall mount tank.... how about just the Tunze 9002 skimmer? think that will be about 5cm width.
