Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Yes, true...

I'm using sigma 50mm f1.4 on crop 1.6x body, quite a killer already... Now, it is always fixed on the body instead of my 24-70mm f2.8/L

yet to get my prime lens... this thread is itching me......

Eqpt: Deltec MCE 600, Tunze 6055 with Tunze 7091 controller, Artica 1/15 HP chiller, AquaIllumination Sol Blue LED Light System

2011 resolution : Do it simpler, better and in an easier way!

Go and get the sigma 50mm 1.4 la, since you luv taking portraits. Bokeh generated by this lens is very good. Many says that this lens is the best 3rd party lens ever, and cheaper too. I bought this lens in hongkong and saved 200 bucks. I have yet to send to sigma service center to get it calibrated to my cam body, which is of course free.

Is the 50mm sufficient? I know the Tamron 90mm is great, but I guess the uses of 90mm will be quite limited compared to 50mm.

Been debating on this for a v. long time... Trying to convince myself to come out with the $ to buy a better lens... haha

Ya... eyeing either the sigma 50mm 1.4 or the canon 50mm 1.8

Heard there's some issues with the Canon 50mm 1.4

But then again... too much stuff to buy... need to prioritize. Still have not got my MH/LED. That one comes first.

Meanwhile I'll use my zoom lens 1st. Still capturing some decent shots with those.

Anyone owns a Canon and can share lens? hehe?

I have the 28 - 55 and a 70 - 250mm lens

Using 50mm for my crop body is equivalet as 80mm.

Ya luv the tamron 90mm. More for macro. As portraits is very nice as well.

Some shots using tamron 90mm

Canon 50mm 1.8 is too soft. I have one.

Canon 50mm 1.4 not too bad but ppl say not good enough. I heard Canon is making the Mark2 version

Canon 50mm 1.2 is the best but more than $2k. Ppl says sigma 50mm1.4 as good as this at fraction of the price.

not yet Fred, getting in the coming few days, maybe sunday. I have quote from 2 friends, each supporting different shop. 1 of them is 1680$ and the other is 1700$. cash payment i believe. my friend also told me that if a shop offer more than $1.7, you should just walk away.

so far i only remember one shop my friend suggested, its John3:16 at Funan. There he was quoted $1700. I will check with him again and update you if i find something new.
