Well i found no answers that i want in the other posts, so i post a new one here. My heater makes noise days and nights and not sure what's the problem. So for some weeks i turnoff it the whole night and startup the next day morning. Last night i found a zebra in my tank got rigid... Not sure if it was freezed or something. The heater is 350 watt, kinda new as was bought this August, should i replace it? If not how can repair it?

hi Simon,

Just FYI, I think most of the reefers here are from SE Asia. The climate here is very hot and we need chillers more than heaters.

But hopefully someone will have the answer for you.

probably its mulfunctioning. heater is a rather simple device, unlike chiller. thus noise is unusual for me though i never used it.

if i were you, i will replaced it. a bad heater could leak stray voltage and you wont want that considering its a 350W unit.

and do keep your heater in good flow area.

and a warm welcome to sgreef, i hope we are able to give you a wonderful exp here. california is like halfway across the globe, its good to see u pop by.

happy reefing!

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

I wonder if it's because of its high power or something else, like what you say, mulfunctioning. Well i think i should replace it as you say, though i just have used it for less than 2 months... :cry2:

Is there any good site selling on line aquarium things? I don usually see such stores around my living place. Pls give me some options that i can look through. :thanks:

hi simon_jazz,

for ur area, you should try marinedepot.com, aquacave.com or you looking for bulk stuff, try bulkreefsupply.com. for a device used for just 2 months, i think you should bring it back to where you bought it and see what they say.

all the best mate

Also try low power heater, like 36 watt if your tank is not that big. According to your location, check this out in thelashop.com. Hope this can help.

Have ask the shopowner who i bought it from, said it's the power unit problem. And to fix it would cost me $50! Half of the heater price. ...I decide not to buy from then next time, never! :angry2:

Fine, I threw it and bought a 36 watt, $84 from the link you give, larain. Thank you both. :thanks:
