i haf managed to retain the color for my solar fairy wrasse w/o ne females inside my tank...so dun tink it applies for me ba..my 2 cents :)


Main tank: 4.5 x 2.5 x 2
Skimmer: Deltec AP701
Return pump: RD 6

Chiller: Daikin compressor with Titanium coil
Wavemaker: Jebao w-20, Maxspect Gyre xf150

Lighting: 8x54 ATI Sunpower Non-dimmable

Linked tank
Main tank: 2 x 1 x 2
Return: Eheim 1260
Lighting: AI Hydra 26 with controller
Wavemaker: Tunze 6025

Thumb of rule... Anything will blue,purple and green will be much dull if there are no female.. They will not lose the color completely but not so bright only.... Because they dun have the need to be so nice when there are no female to attract around..

not sure abt african ones,but i do not agree with your female theory.

alot of people locally and externally have tried pairs and still lost their colour as per single.

Hehe.. Not really sure thou.. Maybe they are missing something that is found in the ocean and not in our tanks...

But I think the male with female will have a higher chance of retaining the color den male without female... That is what i feel lar..

Loss of colour is mostly related to nutrition. Try giving more cyclopeeze or food which contains spirulina or krill meal.

dont have any fairy or flashers yet, but will keep this info in my mind when i do get them! thanks
