Help needed!! URGENT

Hi, have been keeping a bubble tip anemone with maroon clown for slightly more than 2 weeks. But when I can home from work, just, I found that the anemone was closed up and shrivelled like a bunch of thin strands.

Fearing that it may be dying and may contaminate the water, I tried to take it out, but it is still sticking to the LR and does not come off. What should I do next? I have taken out my maroon to another tank.

Is the anemone dying? :o

Please advice. THANKS! :thanks:

Hey no your anemone is NOT dying!! Go read up on anemones!! From time to time they will deflate themselves (to clear the junk inside them I think not too sure but..).. This is NORMAL behaviour for anemones and if it is stuck tight to the rock it is fine and you just put undue stress on it by trying to pull it out!! It's stuck tight to your rock cause it is happy with its position and likely healthy!! Let's just hope that your trying to pull it out didn't affect it...

Then again I'm worried about the presence of ammonia in your tank... The reading should be 0 and you should test your nitrite to make sure its 0 too... Do look into your ammonia situation k?

But I'm still pretty certain that as long as an anemone is stuck tight to your LR it is healthy... If not it'll move about one...

next time dun buy something u dun know abt..

good chance upz the lorry n follow the grandpa at such

a young age..

anyway its fine.

anemone will inflat by taking in water, after sometime the stale

water is expel by deflating. this is normal, whole process may

take hours. just keep alook out if its this condition for veri long,

n check for tears n stickness of the base.

I have been thru abt 10 anemones.. (abuse by fishes, shredded, etc)

so its not a easy invertebates to keep.. now my tank got none till

I upgrade to a bigger tank b4 I look for one.

Sorry to hijack

Same thing happened to my red anemone last night when I came home..shrunk fromthe size of an apple (the day b4) to size of a cherry tomato. Thot that it might be dying. but when I put my hand in to touch it, it was still firm stuck to the LR. So I full blast my light on it....within half an hour back to normal shape. ;)

So glad that its still alive as this anemone had an encounter with the power head 2weeks ago n had a tear at the side. Removed it immediately to the Q tank n let it stay there for 2weeks
