Didn't update my tank thread for some time now.. Have been switching from a SPS tank to more of a FOWLR tank with mainly angelfish and maybe more butterfly fish later. All these years in reefing, i have been keeping mainly reef tank for years now and i think it is time for me to try something for a change, always admiring all those large angel fish in LFS but didnt dare to try in my previous reef tank.

However, keeping a FOWLR tank is not as easy i always though it is. The main challenge i feel is maintaining and the upkeeping of the fish health and bringing out it's original coloration as in the wild in captive, the selection of the tankmate and it;s behavior in the tank also play an important part i feel .

I hope to be able to keep my tank maintain as simple as possible now so that i could spend more time admiring the fish than checking all the parameter :P

The self install pipe hose allow you to adjust the inlet and outlet positions of your hose instead of some of the FR model in the market which is fix.

It has been some time since i last update my tank thread now, and i think i should do some update now to join in the fun :P

More photo of the double chamber FR i install. The first chamber was filled with Rowa carbon and the second chamber with Rowa P04 remover , reason being some said that Carbon may leech back some P04 in the water , so the P04 remover in the second chamber shall do it;s job.

Schuran Bio pallet reactor. Running only on a AB1000 pump, low power consumption and small foot print . Refilling the media is also a breeze since you just need to open the top cap to add in the new media.

Outlet of the Bio pallet reactor is placed near to the inlet of the skimmer to improve it;s effectiveness.

Photo of my refugium section with 4" sand bed ( Filled with Caribsea Miracle Mud + grade 1 sand ), chaeto and Lighted by LumenAqua Max 200 on 10 hour a day ( 1000 ~ 0800 ). On the top layer, i fill it up with a thin layer of Carbisea crushed coral sand to help in buffering the water PH.

The last compartment of the sump, with two new pump ( Aqua medic 5000 and Water blaster 5000 ) with a total flow of 10,000 litres / hr to create a 10 X turnover rate of the tank to replace my old Red dragon. Still prefer runing two separate pump, to play "safe" in case one break down.

Upgraded my chiller as well to a Daiken compressor chiller with Drop in coated copper coil. Chill down my tank from 27 - 26 degree in 20 min Awesome !
