SRC Supporter ReDDeviLs Posted September 13, 2009 SRC Supporter Share Posted September 13, 2009 hi bro, good investment on the rd2. is that a 170W one? see u will be having 2 return pipes which is very useful. just to share with you that since u use a check valve, do remember to still drill a hole on ur return in the maintank incase of back siphon. i experince GF check valve choking due to not maintaining it. did u check if its ok to use the rd2 with the check valve? as i know it will slow then the flow by about 50% so in long term run will it do any damage to the pump faster then normal? thanks Quote [ ] [ ] Reef Reefing Reefed

I am using FIP piping , so not sure if their check valve got such a problem..Any way i will take note of this and luckily i have installed the union so if the check valve does affect the flow of the RD II , i can still change to a straight piping.. I have check with FIP on the check valve concern, the one which i got is a " V " check valve so for those using a " Ball " check valve there maybe a possible problem of the flow restriction and possible pressure build up but for the " V " type it is ok.. Finailly finish up all the piping work today, and finish adding in the water.. will post more update when i got the time..

nichjon
hi H-Mania, nice tank so far, but as for your electrical outlets from the ELCB, what I would have done is to stagger the 2 double sockets at the bottom halfway in the middle of the top sockets, so that the wires from the top sockets' 3 pin plugs will run in between the 3 pin plugs at the bottom, instead of over the plug if there's one directly below it. A much neater overall layout i would think, this i learnt from a reefer from the U.S.. Anyways, good luck for your new tank. Quote Custom 2ft cube tank with 10mm glass.
