Am I reading wrongly from KR91 on their online shop?

KR91-36B(220V)

˙3 Lighting modes: Day light > Blue light > Moon light

˙Adjustable width tank mounts or Pendant mounts

˙Energy saving & environmental protection

˙Heat is radiated away from the tank expelling the need for chillers

˙Long life time up to 50,000 hours eliminating bulb replacement

˙No UV or IR damage light sensitive items

˙PC / VHO / T5 / MH replacement

˙Programmable timer to control lighting mode

Did they do a revamp of the KR91 too? hmmmmm now the KR91 looks even more tempting!

If I'm not wrong, previous model didn't have timer and only had 1 plug for all 3 lights. Which means cannot program the 3 different lights to come on at different times, have to do manually. Although it's nothing fanciful, makes a lot of difference for tanks that are LPS and softies dominated.

To me, the old model was totally impractical just because of the lack of this unfanciful feature. With this, reefers not interested in SPS have a much cheaper alternative than most of the other products in the market. That's a big plus!

Actually I have been looking at these LEDs. Maybe bro Sherman or the LED gurus can recommend? Based on my correspondence with their sales team:

KR91: 8000lux and 300PAR (I'm assuming these are at surface)

Is this sufficient for LPS/Soft coral tank up to 24" depth?

KR92 as taken from their website:

No mention of what LEDs they use and what wattage.

REsponse from Eco -

We are using the 0.75W LED on KR91, and 1W on KR92.

The fixture comes with mounting kit and hanging kit.

It hasn't any wall mount kit, you may have the bracket yourself & hang our light on your bracket.

0.75 watt led not even good enough for fowlr.

1 watt for very shallow tank less than 12 inch height.

And only good for fowlr and some easy to keep LPS.

Need to know more on led go www.nano-reef.com

The gurus are there.

They have being playing with LED longer than any one of us here

Will go for the JPJ viper then. AM has a storewide discount now... might as well make full use of it :)

Bro Sherman, wouldn't it be totally misleading for them to publish their PAR and Lumens value if what you say is true? Just speculating... but maybe they are using optics?

I guess the best is just wait for the early adopters to post their reviews before deciding anything.

I have read quite a number of favorable response from nano-reef forum guys regarding this light.

The light set is slim, sleek looks nice and rather affordable is you compare that to the other models in the market now.

But as the technology is still rather new and i do not think anyone has own LED lighting for > 2yrs, I am a little skeptical as to the LED intensity over time.

In addition, their warranty is only for 6 months which throw me off a little.

If you have something that is claimed to be able to last 3 - 5 yrs, surely a one yr warranty period should not be too much to ask for.

If it breaks down, shipping to and for will cost about SGD 140 already.

yupz all v. good points. Another possible product that is delayed and should arrive soon is the newer aqua lumen. Alternative, of course is to follow bro sherman's method :whistle

Yes, what is publish is very misleading. If any one had a unit we can always do a measurement and see if what is publish is true
