connecting pumps together

if you do that then you will be running your pumps in parallel... do ensure that the both are of the same output otherwise one pump will always be leading the other... if you are using two pumps, just use a flexiable hose to connect both the output of the pump to a common header or pipe... best would be to use a T-fittin... then connect it to the tank lor....

but then on hindside... no matter what.. one pump will always lead the other pump.. and also that although your flow would be more... the head would be reduced....

I tried connecting 2 eheim 1060 into a Y connector before. The flow of both pump counter each other. In the end, the output flow at my tank is the same as using 1 ehem 1060 ...

Do not run pump in this configuration... Unless you got nothin else better to do :P

You need a non return valve or check valve at each pumps output but you cannot run them together unless they have the same specs and all operating conditions are the same otherwise the flow will cancel out each other.

central chiller system for buildings can run several pumps simultaneously but they have monitoring and control systems to ensure that they function correctly.

running both pumps to one output will sooner or later damage your pumps. It is better to use one way valves for both pumps output before connecting to a single output. Its even better if you make a separate output for each individual pump

actually, i;ve seen examples of powerheads connected to each other serially to boost the flow and pressure of the waterflow! Dunno if it will work..seen this setup in the deltec website..the one for automatic selfcleaning head for skimmers..

I did that before. Connected 2 x 1060 in serial. Total 100watts. The efficiency is lower than a 80watts pump (can't remember the brand).

actually the 2 pumps way of setup is important as it will be the overall performance . But its just not worth to damage the coil of these both pumps. Furthermore, not as good as running separately as remember that there will be a backflow pressure to make both of these pumps performance drop
