water surface having alot of dirt like/oil look

hi to all bro who can help

I'm facing a problem which been there for quite awhile my water surface having a thin layer of dirt /oil like thing floating how can i remove it don't really intent to use a surface skimmer others susgestion will be great

tilt one of your powerhead/wavemaker to agitate the surface. I thought your tank has overflow? Shouldn't have this problem as it acts as a surface skimmer too. Just get the surface skimmer la. The China made ones are cheap and work as good as the eheim one.

tks bro for the advice but looks ugly to fix a surface skimmer and the hood is cover with light already

yap indeed my is a overflow for 3ft tank it having a rio 27 return pump so and other solution for this problem??

Use kitchen towel n drag over surface :) Switch off your pumps and wait for the water to become still then do it.

If possible, tilt your return pump upwards to agitate your surface. Could be a circulation problem, your tank flowrate too slow or water not circulating enough for your protein skimmer to do its job. Maybe re-adjust ure skimmer settings to skim more.
