Hi! I just bought the CS-400CIRV 0.5HP Atman chiller as well. Had a minor incident with damping clamps on the compressor resulting in strong violent vibrations with the chiller. Had it replaced and it is now working silently. Very pleased with its performance, able to chill my 3 footer from 27.3 degrees to 25.0 degrees in 1 hour.

I have a question regarding the use of the temp controller. My Atman is running for 15mins, cut for 5 mins and resume again. Thats restarting 3 times every hour, 72 times every day. Does any one have any idea how to program the chiller such that it does not restart so often?

Cedric: If u don't mind to void the warranty, change the thermostat. Thinks your chiller differential setting is only 1 deg... but sometimes it's will start within less than a deg different!

I mod my Resun CA500 chiller with a cold room thermostat that allows me to set the temp to ON and OFF the chiller.

Is Atman CS-400CIRV really 1/2 HP? Looking at the wattage, it's only 320W. I suspect that it's 1/10 HP. 1hour to cool a 3 feet from 27C-25C is consider long. I've checked out a few 1/4hp chillers and most 1/4hp chillers are running at around 600W. If it's really 1/2 hp, then it must be super efficient. By the way, it takes my 1/4 hp chiller to bring my 3ft with 2.5ft sump from 27-25 in less than 20mins depending on ambient temp.

Could someone verify this?

Thanks Cedric. I'm currently using a 1/4 hp chiller and it takes a shorter time to chill my tank from 27 - 25 compared to your 1/2hp chiller. Does this mean that the efficiency of Atman is not up to standard?

Hi Fireclown,

I think you will need to compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges. What I am saying is that everybody's tank is different. Your tank's heat input i.e. pumps, MH, skimmers, etc all general heat input to your tank and it will be different from mine. So you cannot compare it this way. Since you can have a 2degree pull in just 20 mins, I would say its very good already!
