Recommended Posts

my no3 dropped from 60ppm to 5ppm

but it doesn't make significant changes to my lifestock and corals

here is what i do to reduce my no3

upgrade skimmer, dose vodka, keep chaeto

don't bother about no3 if your fish and corals are happy

If my memory served me right, Nitrogen gas is the final end product.. When the anaerobic bacteria break down the Nitrate.. This is done in the DSB where all the anaerobic bacteria reside..

Not just deep sand bed, anaerobic bacteria grows in dark oxygen deprived places I think. Blacking out a sump compartment and filling it with liverocks or bio filter media also does the trick I think. In fact the instructions on Biohome recommends that you place them in a dark place.

My 1.5ft nano cube

My 24G nano tank (Decommed)

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate.

And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

just pour vodka like absolute vodka into the main tank or slump? My nitrate is about 140ppm.
